Chapter 5
My limbs regained sensation through excruciating pain. I lost all sense of time.
After what felt like eternity, someone was calling my name.
“Ms. Whitmore! Ms. Whitmore! When did you regain consciousness? How did you end up here?”
My assistant Marcus grabbed my hand and leaned down to my ear.
“Ms. Whitmore, what are you trying to say?”
I spoke word by word, “Draft divorce papers immediately.”
The harsh white lights of the emergency room, doctors rushing back and forth around me.
The familiar scene reminded me of that day.
I lost my precious baby girl, then lost feeling in my limbs.
Griffin cried and begged me not to leave him, promising to treat me well for the rest of his life.
But in just three short years, he’d become unrecognizable.
I closed my eyes under the weight of it all, letting my consciousness slowly sink into darkness.
On the other side, Griffin carried the person in his arms down the mountain, his steps getting faster and faster.
The drowsy Juniper in his arms was jolted awake, a blissful smile spreading across her face.
‘Mr. Caldwell, I never knew you cared about me this much. But someone as useless as me–how could I possibly deserve your
attention?”
Griffin stopped walking.
She turned her head. “We’ve been walking forever–are we at the hospital yet?”
Before she could spot any hospital, everything started spinning.
Griffin stuffed her into the car and instructed the driver.
Take her to the hospital.”
uniper was stunned, grabbing onto his sleeve. “Mr. Caldwell, where are you going? I’m kinda scared.”
Griffin yanked his hand back, his voice carrying a cold edge. “If anything happened to Seraphina, I won’t let you off easy this time.”
Griffin turned and headed back up the mountain without another word.
Behind him, Juniper bit her lip resentfully. “Mr. Caldwell, don’t you care about me even a tiny bit?”

Griffin paused, turning to look at her deeply.
For the rest of my life, I will never betray Seraphina.”
Hearing his ambiguous answer, Juniper’s mouth slowly curved upward, a gleam of determination flashing in her eyes.
When Griffin returned to the jumping platform on the mountaintop, he could hear intermittent crying before he even got close.
He suddenly had an extremely bad premonition, his legs seemingly rooted to the spot, not daring to take another step forward.
Where’s my wife?”
Griffin kept reassuring himself internally that it couldn’t be true, forcefully grabbing the staff member on the platform.
Where is my wife!”
The staff member looked at his terrible expression and answered tremblingly.
The rope snapped. Mrs. Caldwell fell.”
Griffin stared at the abyss before him, feeling dizzy with a buzzing in his ears. He heard his own trembling voice demanding loudly.
‘How could she fall? I told you people to figure out a way to save her! Did you just watch her fall?”
The staff member’s voice carried a crying tone.
There wasn’t time. You had just left carrying Miss Wilde when the rope broke.”
Griffin staggered back two steps before collapsing to the ground.
He remembered how terrified Seraphina was of heights.
When he proposed, he rented out an entire amusement park and popped the question at the top of a Ferris wheel.
Seraphina, normally so composed and cool, cried in front of him for the first time out of fear.
Back then he swore he’d never make Seraphina cry again.
When the rope broke, did Seraphina cry?
>id Seraphina hate him?
le suddenly didn’t dare think any further, grabbing the person beside him by the collar and roaring.
Search! Even if you have to turn this entire mountain upside down, you must find my wife!”
regained consciousness again a week later.
opened my eyes, moved my stiff limbs, and immediately called for a doctor to arrange rehabilitation.

Marcus supported me through my difficult walking exercises. “Ms. Whitmore, why are you in such a rush with rehab? Where are you trying to go? The doctor said you need proper rest right now.”
I looked ahead and let out a cold laugh.
“To the company, of course. Otherwise, should I wait for my husband to issue my obituary and brazenly change Whitmore Industries to Caldwell Industries?”
