Ivy just smiled. "You have hands and feet, don't you? Why can't you eat on your own?"
"My incision hasn't healed. I can't take care of myself."
Ivy had no real intention of abandoning him, but today's meeting was a rare opportunity.
She gave her husband a look that was both exasperated and fond. "The person I'm meeting is the co-founder of Vastmark International Capital. He's in town for a visit, heard about me, and wanted to chat. He flies back to Switzerland tonight."
If she missed this, she might lose her chance to connect with one of the world's top investment firms.
Even as an outsider to the world of finance, Jamison had heard of Vastmark International Capital. He was surprised his wife had an opportunity to meet with one of its co-founders.
It was indeed a huge opportunity.
But it also sparked another concern. "If you get a job with them, does that mean you'll have to work abroad?"
"I don't think so. I would obviously join the mainland branch." While she dreamed of working at their international headquarters, her family was here, and choices had to be made. A position at the domestic branch would be more than enough.
Her answer seemed to reassure him. "Who else will be there? Is it just you and him?"
"No, Mr. Shaw will be there too. I think it's the four of us."
"Edmond Shaw from Quantum Hedge Securities?"
"Yes, he's the one who made the introduction."
Jamison fell silent, but the look he gave her was probing.
Ivy knew what he was thinking. "Does that explanation just make you more jealous?"
He was, in fact, but his trust in his wife won out. He snorted. "Am I that petty? I was just worried you'd be going in alone. It's better that you have someone you know with you. Just come back as soon as you're done."
