Jamison was speechless.
"It's all a misunderstanding between them, but it's up to Naylor to resolve it. Frankly, with his extensive romantic experience, this should be nothing. If he blows this out of proportion, I'll have to suspect he's using it as an excuse to break up with Katrina."
Ivy's analysis was so thorough that Jamison fell silent, suddenly worried he might get caught in the crossfire if his best friend really was planning something like that.
Noticing his reaction, Ivy flashed a brilliant smile and playfully threatened him, "If your friend dares to deceive my best friend or do anything to hurt her—Dr. Ludwig, you can expect to face guilt by association. Don't say I didn't warn you."
That was enough to make Jamison surrender completely. "What does this have to do with me?" he mumbled under his breath, shooting his wife a furtive glance.
Ivy pretended not to see and walked over to the coffee table, opening her book to continue studying for her exams. But after flipping through just a few pages, she felt a discomfort in her stomach.
Come to think of it, the place they'd had lunch was very high-end, but despite the delicious-looking food, she hadn't had much of an appetite. She couldn't refuse to eat in front of the VIP, though, or he might think she was snubbing him. She'd forced herself to finish the meal, and ever since, she’d felt a knot in her stomach. Now, sitting down, a wave of nausea washed over her, a sour taste rising in her throat.
