The Villainess Needs a Hug (Ivy Windsor) novel Chapter 862

Staring at the faint, almost invisible line on the pregnancy test, Ivy studied it for a long time, completely unsure. It was her first time using one, and she had no idea what she was looking at. After a moment of hesitation, she tore open the second test. The result was the same—a line so faint it was barely there.

Unable to make a decision and unwilling to let the uncertainty consume her, she decided to contact Dr. Beckett on WhatsApp. Coincidentally, Dr. Beckett was on the night shift at the hospital. Ivy put her phone away and immediately headed to the inpatient wing to find her.

Dr. Beckett knew they had been actively trying to conceive and agreed that, based on Ivy's symptoms, pregnancy was a possibility. But they needed proof.

"I'll write you a lab order for a blood test. In the very early stages, a home test might not be able to detect it," Dr. Beckett said, quickly filling out the form and calling a nurse to take Ivy to the lab.

Ivy had just rolled up her sleeve, and the nurse was still prepping the area with an alcohol swab, when her phone rang. She didn't even need to look to know who it was.

"Where did you go? Why aren't you back yet?" Jamison demanded. He got antsy if she was gone for even a moment, and now she’d been out for over an hour. It was completely dark outside.

As the needle slid into her vein, Ivy winced and looked away, lying without missing a beat. "I'm talking to Katrina, asking her what's really going on with her and Naylor."

A hint of guilt crept into Jamison's voice. "Why are you getting involved in their relationship?"

Ivy knew her husband all too well. "What's wrong?" she said with a cold laugh. "Afraid of getting caught in the crossfire?"
