Katrina didn't need to investigate him.
A person's mouth might lie, but their eyes never did. After years of studying law and dealing with an endless stream of clients, she trusted her ability to read people.
Besides, she had been the one to initiate the breakup. Technically, even if Naylor had moved on, he wouldn't have been in the wrong.
The fact that he had held onto her all this time proved their bond was far stronger than she had dared to believe.
Noticing the subtle softening of her expression, Naylor knew he had won her over. As he leaned in for a kiss, he couldn't resist a petty grievance: "I didn't even give you a hard time about all those creeps buzzing around you like flies, and here you are interrogating me!"
Katrina gasped. How did he know about that?
"Were you stalking me?"
Naylor said nothing, mostly because his mouth was suddenly preoccupied with far more important matters.
Katrina tried to demand answers about his surveillance habits, but the man left her zero room to focus on anything else...

When Ivy heard her best friend's massive news, her first assumption was totally wrong. "Did you go on another blind date? I thought your mom stopped pressuring you!"
On the other end of the line, Katrina sounded incredibly sheepish. "Oh, no... it wasn't a blind date."
"Not a blind date?" Ivy paused for a full two seconds before the realization hit her, her voice skyrocketing in pitch. "Wait. Are you telling me you're marrying Naylor?!"
"Yeah..."
"You're marrying Naylor?!" Ivy, who was in the middle of a postpartum physical therapy session, was so shocked she nearly bolted upright, giving the clinic staff a minor heart attack.
This was just too wild.
"When did this happen? I thought you guys were totally done. How did you go from broken up to engaged?"
"It happened last weekend. After we left your place, that night..."
Katrina stumbled over her words. "Not... exactly. I was actually the one who asked him."
"You proposed to him?! And he just said yes?"
"Ugh... it's a long story. I can't explain it all over the phone. I'll come over and tell you everything in person."
"Yes, absolutely! Come over this weekend," Ivy beamed, already wishing it were Saturday. Then she quickly shifted to scolding her. "I can't believe you sat on a bombshell this massive for days without telling me. You're terrible."
"I honestly thought it was just the heat of the moment," Katrina defended herself. "I figured he'd cool off after a few days and pretend it didn't happen, but Naylor has been... incredibly proactive."
"The heat of the moment? Damn, what exactly did you two do that night?"
"Nothing!"
Katrina denied it far too quickly, but Ivy already knew exactly what was up.
