The Villainess Needs a Hug (Ivy Windsor) novel Chapter 940

About forty-five minutes later, Ivy and Davina arrived at The Ludwig Group headquarters at nearly the same time.

Once they were in Thad's office, Ivy didn't waste a single second. "Thad, Davina, I'm a match for Jamison. But he will absolutely never let me donate my liver. So I need you two to help me put on a show and get him onto that operating table without him knowing."

Thad and Davina sat in stunned silence.

Davina looked at Ivy, her eyes scanning the younger woman's face before she finally managed to ask, "Ivy, you're a match? Are you absolutely sure there hasn't been a mistake?"

"I'm sure. We are a match. Even though our blood types are different, Director Wylde assured me it falls within acceptable donation parameters. I can do this," Ivy stated firmly.

Thad was torn between profound relief and agonizing guilt. He looked back and forth between his wife and sister-in-law before speaking. "That's incredible news. It really is. But it means you have to take the hit. I feel terrible that I can't be the one to do this."

"Thad, don't say that. Jamison made the right call. The burden you carry for the family and the company is too massive. We couldn't risk taking both of you out of commission. Even if you were a perfect match, neither of us would let you do it."

Ivy completely understood her husband's reasoning.

You didn't jeopardize the livelihood of a multinational corporation with tens of thousands of employees for one person.

But despite her reassurances, Thad's guilt remained heavy.

Knowing how much her husband was hurting, Davina stepped in. "Ivy, if you're sure about this, we are one hundred percent behind you. Whatever you need us to do, just say the word. Also, Mom called us yesterday to get the funds ready. We've basically secured the fifty million dollars. Originally, that money was going to go to Boyd as a thank-you. But since he can't donate, and you are... that money belongs to you now."

Ivy looked horrified. "Are you talking about the fifty million?!"

"Yes."

"What on earth would I do with that kind of money?! I'm saving my own husband, not selling organs on the black market," Ivy shot back, her voice rising in disbelief.

Thad held up a hand. "Ivy, please, look at it from our perspective. We know how much you love him. We know you'd do anything for him. But we still want you to have this. In fact, on top of the money, I strongly suggest you and Jamison sign a postnuptial agreement transferring all of his assets to your name. No matter what happens in the future, you'd be entirely secure, and no one could ever take it from you. Just to be safe, I think we should have it fully notarized."

Thad's logic was clear. Since she was willing to risk her life to save his brother, the family had to show their absolute gratitude and respect.

Looking at their earnest faces, Ivy felt a lump in her throat. After a brief hesitation, she nodded. "Alright. We'll do it your way. Thank you both. Truly."

With the plan set, Thad immediately canceled the rest of his afternoon meetings and drove straight to the hospital.

Jamison had woken up from his nap, attended a medical consultation, and had just returned to his room when Thad walked in. "You're off work early?" Jamison noted casually.

Seeing that his brother looked relatively well, Thad felt a small sense of relief. He slipped smoothly into his lie. "I was visiting some clients nearby. Didn't feel like heading back to the office, so I figured I'd drop by before going home."

Jamison nodded, gesturing vaguely toward the table. "Grab a seat. Get yourself some water."

Thad knew perfectly well that Ivy was supposedly at home with the kids, but he asked anyway. "Is Ivy not here?"

"She should be back soon. She went home to see the boys."

"Yeah. It hasn't been easy on her either," Thad remarked, casually steering the conversation right where he wanted it as he took a seat on the sofa. "Giving up her work to take care of you, running back and forth to keep the kids happy."
