Nathan had gone completely pale.
His lips parted and his throat made a choking sound–something between a gasp and a stutter–but not a single word
came out.
My second question had sliced straight through the glossy lie he’d crafted, cutting clean to the filthy truth underneath.
Richard’s expression darkened instantly. He knew–if I kept going, there’d be no way to cover this up.
“Why are you all just standing there?!” he barked at the security team. “Get her out of here! Now!”
Three large security guards started closing in, their stances aggressive, their eyes hard.
But I didn’t flinch. Didn’t even blink.
I just stared at my father–the man I used to think was larger than life.
You’re in such a hurry to drag me offstage.” I said softly.
“Feeling guilty?”
My voice wasn’t loud, but it hit him like a hammer to the chest.
Just as one of the guards reached out to grab my arm, I raised my phone and tapped the screen.
A video began to play–broadcast directly onto the auditorium’s massive screens.
The footage showed me inside my private lab.
I was facing the camera, my voice clear, calm, clinical.
Today is the night before the Neptune–X is scheduled to launch Time: 1137 PM. Veyrahn Standard Tune.”
