Wesley raised a brow.
“Impressive grades.
“Very impressive. I’ve decided to donate another five million to your school.
“I hope your school produces more students like Larissa.”
Tom wiped the sweat from his face again.
Mr. Robinett is terrifying.
One second, he looks like he might tear me apart, and the next, he’s adding millions in donations. I can’t follow the logic of people who are that rich.
Still, this was good news.
The funding meant renovations could move forward, and the school’s conditions would improve.
With an extra seven million, the campus could be upgraded far beyond expectations.
And somehow, it all traced back to Larissa.
Then it hit him.
So that’s it.
“I had wondered why a man like Mr. Robinett would personally visit a school.
It isn’t about the school at all.
He came for Larissa.
Just who is she to draw the attention of someone like him?
One thing is certain–I can never afford to offend her.
At that moment, Julia led a group of students toward Larissa, who was still asleep.
A bad feeling flickered through him instantly,
“Larissa, the high jump’s about to start. You’re competing? You actually signed up to go against the tallest girl in our class? Don’t embarrass yourself.”
Julia sneered.
Being woken up like that instantly soured Larissa’s mood.
She opened her eyes slowly, her irritation obvious as she looked at Julia and the crowd behind her.
“Julia, what’s wrong with you? I’m sleeping–what does that have to do with you? Why are you so obsessed

with me?
“What, are you in love with me or something? You just can’t stay away from me?
“Too bad. I don’t like people with poisonous hearts.”
“What…”
Julia pointed at her, shaking with anger, unable to say anything else.
Larissa stood up in one smooth motion, her voice casual.
“What do you mean, what? Is that the only word you know, Ms. Turner?
“Maybe you should get that checked out.
“The people you’re trying to impress don’t like stutterers.
“And they definitely don’t like troublemakers.
“So keep your tail tucked. Next time, I won’t be this nice.”
“H–how do you know that?”
Finished
Julia’s face flushed red as she was cornered. The students behind her exchanged glances, all eyes turning to her.
She took a breath, forcing herself to calm down, then sneered.
“Don’t get ahead of yourself, Larissa. Once the high jump starts, you’ll see how ridiculous you look.
“You think you can beat Class A? What a joke.”
Larissa rolled her eyes.
“We’ll see. Class C will win. Class A will lose.
“And you’re not even competing, so why are you so smug?
“Mind your own business.”
The announcement came over the speakers–the high jump event was starting.
Larissa stretched lazily and walked toward the high jump area.
“Larissa, good luck. I believe in you–but be careful. Don’t push yourself too hard.
