Chapter 158 I Trust No One Else
“And you?

“Your scores are decent, yes, but this national competition tests comprehensive knowledge across all subjects.
“Anyway, saying more won’t help.
“There’s nothing I can do for you directly, but I got this material from my senior, and it might help.
“You’re too impulsive, seriously.
‘High school is almost over. If you leave this school at this crucial time, what will you do later?”
Larissa felt a warm sense of care. She hadn’t expected Daphne to be so concerned.
However, Daphne didn’t seem to believe she could win, but that was fine.
Larissa would prove with action that she was superior to Julia.
She had to show Morris that the “treasure” he adored wasn’t even in her league.
She took the folder and said gratefully, “Thank you, Ms. Hale. I won’t be impulsive.
‘I’m confident I can win this competition.
‘I won’t let Class C–or you–down.
‘And thank you for the materials.”
Daphne looked at her determined eyes and nodded, pleased.
‘I believe in you. But don’t put too much pressure on yourself–just do your best.”
Out of the office, Larissa returned to class and began reviewing the folder.
She had a photographic memory, so after an hour, all the material was etched into her mind.
Then, she lay down and started napping.
Nancy, her desk mate, had been excited to see Larissa finally studying, but after only an hour, she was asleep again.
How are we supposed to win like this?
Nancy nudged her arm softly.
“Larissa, aren’t you worried? Julia is probably studying day and night.
“Are you seriously not anxious? Or have you already given up?

“I can’t bear to see you go.”
Larissa woke reluctantly and was forced to hear Nancy’s odd little speech.
“What? I already said I won’t lose, and I won’t leave this school.

“Why do you have that look on your face? The competition hasn’t even started, and you’re hoping I fail?”
Nancy stomped her foot, flustered.
“I’m not hoping you lose! I’m afraid you’re underestimating Julia!
“I’m sure Julia’s definitely working her tail off.
“On the other hand, you study for one hour and then nap. Tomorrow’s the competition! I’m worried for you.”
Larissa straightened in her seat. “Fine. I’ll start studying now.”
Julia, meanwhile, wasn’t idle. She gathered various study materials and hired several tutors to cram for the competition.
Jettson knew about her bet with Larissa.
He even leveraged his connections to get a premium set of materials from Professor Harding at the education bureau.
“Julia, this set of materials is important. You’d better go through it overnight as it’ll really help with the competition.”
Julia looked at him approvingly.
