“That’s better.
“Larissa, can I call you that?”
When she entered the car without resisting, Alvin felt a spark of satisfaction.
It was their first time being alone together.
Even he could not explain it, she felt different from anyone else.
He wanted to close the distance.
The thought crossed his mind, and he followed it.
With her finally seated beside him, a strange calm settled in his chest.
Larissa pressed herself against the door, keeping space between them.
“We’re not close. What exactly do you want?”
Impatience edged her voice.
She wanted no connection with him whatsoever.
Alvin did not expect such coldness, and it displeased him.
He loosened his tie, the irritation in him easing slightly.
“We’re not close yet. That doesn’t mean we won’t be.
“I’m interested in you. Be my woman.
“I can give you more money than you could ever spend.”
Larissa let out a sharp laugh, anger and mockery blending together.
“Alvin, wake up.
“Even if I end up begging on the streets, I won’t be yours.
“Do I look short of money?
“And I’m underage. Are you out of your mind?”
Be his woman. Again.
No matter her identity, in his eyes she was only suitable to stay hidden at his side.
In her previous life, she chased his affection and lost herself completely.

This time, she would not love him, nor would she involve herself with him.
Alvin’s brows tightened, though his tone remained firm.
“Don’t push your luck. Plenty of women want to be with me and never get the chance.”
Larissa’s gaze turned glacial as she met his eyes.
“Then go find them.
“I never asked you to chase me.
“And are you really that self–absorbed? Do you think every woman likes you?
“Overconfidence is a problem. You should fix it early.
“Let me make it clear–even if every man alive disappeared, I still wouldn’t choose you.”

Her words struck him like a slap. Irritation flared, and he stepped harder on the accelerator. The car surged forward.
“Fine. Very well.
“No one has ever spoken to me like that.
“If that’s your attitude, I’ll see how long you can keep it up.”
Alvin forced the words out through clenched teeth.
“You’re crazy. I’m getting out.”
Larissa gripped the door handle tightly. The engine roared through the quiet night.
Alvin looked at her stubborn expression, and his competitive streak burned stronger.
Larissa silently vowed she would never repeat the mistakes of her past.
Just as the speed continued to climb, his phone began ringing.
Again and again.
Larissa glanced at the screen. As expected, it was Floria.
“Your phone is ringing. Answer it. What if it’s important?”
