In her past life, it took her a whole lifetime to finally see the truth and face reality.
She saw how fake the Turners were, how they caused her terrible death, and how they'd stolen everything from her.
The company shares she built with her own hands. Her healthy body.
All she ever wanted was just a little fatherly love from Morris.
In this new life, she wouldn't be foolish again.
"Mr. Turner, I didn't do it, and I won't apologize.
"Are you acting like this because I hit the truth and made you feel guilty?
"If you really saw me as your daughter, you wouldn't doubt me.
"I just got home, and within twelve hours I was locked up. I didn't get any food, not even a sip of water.
"Is this how you treat someone you call family?"
Listening to her hoarse cries and painful words, Morris did not feel even a bit of pity. Instead, he found her hateful to look at. Losing all patience, he raised his hand and slapped her hard across the face, shouting angrily, "All lies! I saw everything clearly on the security cameras, and you still refuse to admit it. How could I have a daughter like you?"
Seeing this, Julia watched with pride, treating it like a joke.
Larissa, did you see that? All of this belongs to me. The father you love, the brothers you care about, everything in this family is mine.
Why didn't you just die outside?
Since you insist on coming back, don't blame me for using any means to drive you out. You're just an adopted daughter. What right do you have to fight with me?
Larissa covered her burning cheek where she was hit. The last bit of hope in her heart was shattered by that slap.
In her past life, she wanted family love too badly. She still held on to a small hope for the Turners, so she accepted the blame back then.
From that day on, she was labeled as a cruel person who hurt her younger sister.
Given a second life, she would no longer cling to even a shred of hope for the Turners.
That was fine.
This way, when she left this place, she would have no regrets at all.
Had the Turners ever shown her even a hint of pity or care?
"Good thing I'm not your real daughter. I don't need a father like you who can't tell right from wrong. I didn't do it, so I won't admit it. I did nothing wrong.
"If you insist on forcing me to admit it, then I don't mind making this accusation real."
Julia shrank back in fear and hid in Priscilla's arms.
Priscilla patted her back and comforted her, saying, "Don't be scared. I am here. No one will dare bully you again."
Jettson said, "Don't be afraid. I'm here. I'll protect you."
Harlan added, "That's right. I'm here, too. I won't let anyone hurt you again."
Priscilla stared at Larissa with anger burning in her eyes. "How dare you threaten my precious daughter? Who do you think you are?"
Morris pointed at Larissa in rage, his face full of pain and disappointment.
"How did you become like this?
"It seems that sending you to Ravenmind Island for five years didn't help at all. Not only did you not improve, you became even more rude and cruel.
"I'm truly disappointed in you.
"If you won't admit your mistake, then get out of this house. I don't have a daughter like you."
Larissa looked at the scene in front of her—their happy family standing together, all of them protecting Julia.
She couldn't help but think of the time before she turned ten. Back then, Jettson, Harlan, and Morris all loved her very much. They played with her, and on her birthday, they carefully prepared gifts and surprises just for her.
But Julia was his biological daughter. Their biological sister. They were the real family.
And she was just an outsider.
All of that was too long ago now, beautiful like a dream.
It no longer belonged to her.
Yet in her past life, she still foolishly wanted family love from the Turners.
She was wrong. Completely wrong.
"Fine. Since you can't accept me, I won't stay here and disturb your happy family anymore," Larissa said.
"Stop right there."
Jettson walked up to her and grabbed her arm, his tone rough and cold. "Did I say you could leave? You did something wrong and still won't repent."
"Let go."
Larissa shook off his hand, ignored him, and turned to leave.
