The shops didn’t look like much from the outside. The finished computers on display weren’t impressive either. But inside, the stores carried rare, high–end parts that were hard to find anywhere else.

Larissa walked in and began picking out components one by one. As she moved through the aisles, she was already building the design in her mind. She knew exactly what parts her computer and robot butler would need.

Lucas and Nancy stood beside her, holding the items she selected.

Suddenly, a loud and mocking voice cut through the air.

“Well, if it isn’t the useless heir from the Bennetts. You’re here to buy expensive parts? Who are you trying to impress?

“With parts this pricey, do you even know how to use them?

“I’ll take what’s in your hand. Put it down.”

The one speaking was Brad Sutton, heir to the Suttons.

Lucas came from the branch family; they had fallen on hard times after offending Wilmot. Their life had grown more difficult year by year.

Brad’s parents used to be close friends with Lucas’s parents.

Back when they were living the high life, the Suttons stayed close. After they lost their status, the Suttons were quick to step on them.

Lucas frowned slightly. “These aren’t for me. There are so many people watching. Don’t you think this is inappropriate?”

Brad glanced back and forth between Larissa and Nancy.

He burst out laughing. “Poor people will always be poor. You can’t escape your fate.

“Lucas, you’ve already fallen this low. Why keep pretending? What’s the point of protecting your pride?

“Look at your friends. They’re dressed in cheap clothes from head to toe. And they think they can afford this stuff?

“Stop dreaming. To buy all this, you’d need at least half a million dollars. Can you two even come up with

that?”

He even reached out and tugged at Larissa’s shirt on purpose, his face full of disgust.

“I saw these first. As long as I haven’t given up on them, you can’t take them from me.”

Larissa suddenly grabbed Brad’s wrist. She twisted it slightly.

Crack. The sharp sound of a joint popping out of place filled the store.

“Take your filthy hand away,” she said coldly. “If you can’t control yourself next time, it won’t just be dislocated. It’ll be broken.”

Brad’s face turned ghostly pale. Sweat poured down his forehead. He never imagined that this girl, who looked so gentle, could be this strong.

He glared at Larissa, grinding his teeth.
