Chapter 286 A Strange Feeling

“Did you hear the news?” someone asked, raising his glass. “This year’s SAT top scorer is a girl from Marcrest High. Larissa get a perfect score. What a pervert! Can you believe it?”
Another man laughed. “Not long ago, she also represented our country in the Global Academic Competition. Perfect score again. She even ranked first in the world. That girl is unreal. No normal person could be that smart.”
“I heard she didn’t even finish middle school,” someone else said. “She skipped straight to 12th grade. At first, many teachers were worried she’d drag the class down, so they didn’t want to accept her as a transfer. Who would’ve guessed she was actually a genius?”
“Oh, you mean the girl the Sowles recently brought back?” another man said. “Don’t underestimate her. She’s already rich. She owns twenty percent of the Sowle Group. Just the yearly dividends alone are worth billions.”
“I also heard she’s beautiful,” one of them added with a grin. “Graceful, sweet, and charming. Once she shows up in Eldercrown and everyone learns her identity, a lot of guys will line up to date her.”
“I saw her once from far away,” another man joked. “She looked gentle and really pretty. I like her already. When I get the chance, I’m asking her out first–don’t compete with me, guys.”
…
The men erupted in laughter around the table. Teasing was a common part of their drinking
sessions.
In the past, Terry would have ignored it.
But tonight, every word grated on his nerves.
He had been back in Eldercrown for several days.
Yet Larissa’s face kept appearing in his mind.
It felt like a strange kind of poison.
He thought he hated that woman. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t forget her.
Terry grabbed his glass and downed a large gulp of liquor.
The men kept joking about Larissa. At last, he couldn’t take it anymore. He suddenly stood up and started throwing punches and kicks.

“Terry! Have you lost your mind?” one of them shouted. “Why are you hitting us like that?”
Terry’s eyes were red with anger. “Don’t talk about her like that!”
The group looked at each other in confusion.
“What’s wrong with you?” someone asked. “What is Larissa to you? Why are you suddenly defending her?”
He was genuinely puzzled.
As far as he knew, Terry shouldn’t even know Larissa.
So why was he acting like this?
Terry froze. That question hit him just as hard.
What was wrong with him? Why did hearing them insult her make him so angry?
He slowly lowered his fists. After standing there in silence for a long moment, he walked out of
the bar.
The others watched him leave, completely baffled.
They had never seen Terry lose control like that.
At that moment, Floria happened to pass by. She greeted him with a bright smile. But Terry walked straight past her without even a glance.
Floria stood there, stunned.
“Floria, that was Terry, right?” one of her friends asked curiously. “Hasn’t he always chased after you? Why did he ignore you just now? Did something happen between you two?”
“Exactly,” another girl said. “He always does whatever you ask. What’s wrong with him today?”
