“Larissa, don’t reject me so quickly.

“Eldercrown University has always been an excellent school, and no one would deny that. But Northland University also has top professors and a strong academic culture. I believe you would do very well here.
“And if a talent like you chooses Northland University, we won’t just waive all your tuition and fees. We’ll also give you a 1,300–square–foot apartment near campus and a monthly stipend of 300,000 dollars.
“If that’s still not enough, tell us what else you want. We’ll do our best to meet your needs.”
Larissa was caught off guard.
She knew Northland University well. It was one of the best schools in the country. She never expected Alex to go this far just to bring her in.
It was clear they truly valued her, and that made this harder than she expected.
“Mr. Shelton, I don’t understand,” Larissa said frankly. “Why are you making such a generous offer to get me into Northland University? I don’t believe in pie in the sky.”
Alex smiled gently. “Larissa, you’re too humble.
“You’re not only this year’s top SAT scorer. Your performance in the Global Academic Competition also proved that you’re an exceptional talent in every way.
“I’m sure that with you at Northland University, it won’t take long for us to surpass Eldercrown University,”
Larissa listened in silence.
The offer was extremely tempting.
But after thinking it over, she still chose to refuse.
She remembered what her father had said. Her brothers had studied at Eldercrown University, and she had once been part of Eldercrown’s gifted program.
Even though joining that program was not exactly the same as enrolling in the university, both belonged to the same top academic system.
“Thank you for your generosity, Mr. Shelton,” Larissa said firmly. “But I’ve already decided to attend Eldercrown University.”

Her answer was clear.
Alex had expected it. He had come prepared.
“Larissa, why not think about it a little more?” he said. “Everything I just offered still stands, but I only have one request.
“You don’t have to enroll as a regular student. You can join Northland University as an honorary student instead.
“You won’t need to attend classes on a set schedule, and you won’t need to earn credits like other students to graduate.
“You only need to do one thing. If our school ever faces a problem we can’t handle, or if we need someone to compete on our behalf, you’ll step in and help us.
“In return, while you’re studying, Northland University will support you without condition whenever you need us.”
His idea was simple.
First, bring her into the school in name. Then, over time, let her grow closer to Northland University.
With someone as brilliant as Larissa on their side, they would not have to fear challenges from other schools in the future.
This was the last way Alex could think of to keep her tied to Northland University.
If other students heard these terms, their jaws would probably drop.
After all, Northland University ranked just below Eldercrown University in the entire country.
And Alex was someone most people would never even have the chance to meet.
But he had lowered himself this much just to persuade Larissa to become an honorary student at his school.
