Isaac lay weakly on the hospital bed.

When he saw Bailey walk in, he forced himself to move. With help from his assistant, he slowly sat up.

“Professor,” Isaac said softly, “I know my body. There’s no need for you to put in those efforts.”

His voice was full of despair. It was clear he had been disappointed many times before.

And when he noticed that the person Bailey brought with him was a young girl, the last bit of hope in his eyes faded.

Bailey sat beside him and held his hand, trying to comfort him.

“Isaac, don’t give up. The young lady I brought today saved my life three years ago. Her medical skills are outstanding. Trust me. She’s different from other doctors. I believe she can cure you.”

“Professor Porter, are you sure she’s a doctor?” the assistant asked, pointing at Larissa with doubt.

She looked far too young.

Isaac’s attending physician was also there. He was the head of surgery at the hospital, a world–class expert in his field.

“Professor Porter, I trust you,” the attending physician said seriously. “But she’s too young. She clearly lacks the experience to handle all the possible complications this patient might face. Are you sure this isn’t too risky? Letting her treat my patient feels disrespectful to me. Mr. Sowle’s condition is extremely serious. One small mistake could lead to terrible consequences. I strongly advise against this. Conservative treatment is the safest option right now.”

The other doctors quickly agreed with him.

No one thought highly of Larissa.

“Miss,” one of them asked bluntly, “do you even have a medical license? This patient has a special status. If something goes wrong, can you take responsibility?”

Larissa did not get angry. She simply looked at the doctor calmly.

She said evenly, “Medical skill is not judged by age. I may be young, but I’ve never failed to save a patient. That said, I have three rules. I don’t treat those who don’t trust me. I don’t treat those who look down on me. And I don’t treat those who are always boasting about their status. It seems like I lack the fate to treat this patient.”

After saying that, Larissa turned to Bailey and gave him an apologetic smile.

“Professor Porter, you know my personality. Looks like this trip was pointless.”

Everyone was stunned. She gave up just like that.

She didn’t even check the patient.
