The two sides reached a stalemate, and the atmosphere in the room grew heavy. Danielle had been listening silently to the debate, her mind racing as she searched for a breakthrough. Just then, a sudden wave of nausea rose in her throat. She clapped a hand over her mouth, her face instantly turning pale.
“Ms. Crawford, are you alright?” Gian noticed her distress immediately, his voice laced with concern as he reached out to support her.
Danielle waved him off, grabbing her water glass and taking a large gulp to force the nausea down. She took a deep breath and looked up at Alexander. “I'm fine. Let's continue. Regarding the equity split, I have a new proposal…”
Alexander's eyes had been fixed on her, taking in her every reaction. He frowned. “If you're not feeling well, we can reschedule,” he said coolly.
“No need,” Danielle insisted, waving her hand again. “Let's just finish today's agenda.”
Seeing her determination, Alexander didn't interrupt again. He listened intently to her proposal, occasionally raising questions. In the end, however, they still couldn't reach an agreement.
The moment they stepped out of the NextCore building, Gian immediately took Danielle's arm, his concern deepening. “Is the morning sickness getting worse? You should have taken a break back in the conference room. Look how pale you are.”
Danielle shook her head and leaned against the car to steady herself, some color slowly returning to her face. “It's fine. It's an old problem, I just have to push through it. It was much harder when I was pregnant with Niki, and I got through that, didn't I?”
