Her tone was neutral—neither angry nor hurt, as if Lorie were discussing something that had nothing to do with her. But it was this very calmness that stung Lorie like a needle. She had expected Danielle to get angry, to defend herself, or even to argue. Instead, Danielle's reaction made her feel like a pathetic clown.
"Don't you dare play innocent with me!" Lorie's voice rose, drawing glances from a few nearby patients. "You think I don't know what you're thinking? You were hoping things would go wrong for Alex and me. You were hoping our baby wouldn't make it so you could swoop in!"
Danielle sighed softly and put away her knitting, a hint of exhaustion in her voice. "Lorie, there is no chance for Alexander and me in this lifetime. You don't need to treat me like your rival. It's pointless." She paused, looking at Lorie's agitated state, and continued, "Right now, all I want is to focus on my recovery, on taking care of Niki, and on my work at Ninesky. Whatever is going on between you and Alexander is none of my business. I don't have the energy to care."
With that, Danielle turned to leave, but Lorie grabbed her wrist. "Stop! You make yourself clear! What do you mean it's none of your business? If it weren't for you, Alex and I would have been married long ago. Now you're stirring up trouble again. What are you really after?"
Danielle frowned and pulled her hand free. "Lorie, calm down. Alexander and I are divorced. It's been over between us for a long time. If you really care about him, you should be talking to him, not coming here to harass me." Without another glance, Danielle walked directly toward the hospital building.
Lorie stood there, knowing Danielle's words were true, but she couldn't control the panic that seized her whenever she thought about Alexander's concern for the other woman.
Back in her hospital room, Lorie stared at the empty space, and the anger inside her burned hotter. She snatched a water glass from the table and hurled it to the floor, sending shards of glass scattering everywhere. *What does Alexander think I am?*

I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele.
