The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 1028

Alexander watched him go before leaving himself.

-

A few days later, at NextCore.

Danielle had been discharged from the hospital and was back at work.

Though she hadn't fully recovered, the lingering weakness of her illness was gone from her face, replaced by a quiet, focused intensity.

She poured all her energy into her work, as if it were the only way to temporarily forget the painful memories.

During her lunch break, she headed to the restroom. As she walked down the company corridor, she suddenly stopped.

Just then, the elevator doors opened, and a familiar figure stepped out. Their eyes met, and for a moment, time seemed to stand still.

Alexander saw her, too.

He wore a crisp white shirt, his tie perfectly knotted, but the exhaustion and weariness in his eyes were impossible to hide.

His gaze was deep, as if holding a universe of emotions.

Danielle merely gave him a cool glance before continuing on her way toward the restroom, her steps steady, as if he were nothing more than an inconsequential stranger.

Alexander stood frozen, his gaze dark and deep, following her until she disappeared down the hall.

He opened his mouth as if to say something, but in the end, nothing came out. He just took a deep breath and turned toward his temporary office.

Back at her desk, Danielle received a call from Gian.

“Danielle, good news. The CEO of Cole Company has arrived in the country.”

Danielle’s head snapped up.

Cole Company had a sprawling network and a massive market overseas. Partnering with them would be a direct gateway for Ninesky Technologies into the international market.

It was a golden opportunity.

Why would Alexander want to see her at this hour?

Suppressing her confusion, she stood and followed Nash to the CEO's office.

When she pushed the door open, Alexander was on the phone by the floor-to-ceiling window. He wore a light gray shirt, its sleeves casually rolled up to reveal his well-defined wrists.

Hearing the door, he glanced over, said a quick “I’ll call you back,” into the phone, and hung up.

“Have a seat.”

Alexander gestured to the chair in front of his desk and walked back to his own seat. He tapped his fingers lightly on the tabletop. “Cole’s representatives are here. The meeting is at ten in the conference room. You’ll join me.”

Danielle’s head shot up, her eyes filled with surprise.

Normally, as an engineer from Ninesky assigned to NextCore, she wouldn't be involved in receiving such important partners. It wasn’t her place.

But then she remembered Gian asking her to find a way to meet with Cole just yesterday. Now, Alexander was inviting her to the reception himself. It was a godsend.
