Kirsten's heart tightened. She hurried over, her voice edged with a panic she tried to hide. "Gian, what are you doing? Did you get your heart broken or something?" The Gian she knew was always gentle, calm, and collected. Whether he was negotiating a business deal or navigating complex social situations, he handled everything with ease, never once showing such a defeated side.
Gian kept his gaze lowered, his long eyelashes casting shadows beneath his eyes. He didn't speak, just turned his head slightly to avoid her gaze. "I called you so many times, and you didn't answer a single one!" Kirsten knelt, looking at his red-rimmed eyes. Her chiding tone softened with worry. "You scared me to death. I thought something had happened to you. I rushed all the way from the office, but you didn't answer the door, so I had to get security to let me in."
She reached out to help him up, but Gian gently moved away. Seeing him like this, Kirsten grew even more uneasy. She had never seen him in this state before; it was honestly frightening. "What on earth happened?" Kirsten took a deep breath and knelt in front of him, softening her voice. "You can tell me anything. We can figure it out together. Just don't be like this. Don't scare me."
Gian was silent for a long time before he finally lifted his eyes. They were bloodshot and cloudy with a drunken exhaustion. He rubbed his brow, his voice raspy. "Sorry for making you worry." The apology still carried his usual politeness, but to Kirsten, it was heartbreaking.
Gian had always been a man of grace and restraint. Very few people ever saw him in such a wretched, decadent state—in fact, he had almost never lost control like this. To the outside world, he was always proper, gentle, and refined, like an eternally steadfast pine tree. But right now, that pine tree looked as though it had been ravaged by a storm, revealing its inner vulnerability.
Sometimes, love isn't always sweet; it can also be a source of pressure and heavy discomfort. Especially for someone like Danielle, who had been through emotional trauma, too much passion or a direct confession might just make her retreat. Gian didn't want to put that pressure on her. He would rather remain a friend, quietly staying by her side and offering help when she needed it, than put her in a difficult position because of his feelings.
Kirsten fell silent. She could understand Gian's thinking. Loving someone doesn't always mean you have to possess them. Sometimes, protecting them from afar is its own kind of deep affection. "Her and Alexander..." Kirsten began hesitantly, wanting to say something comforting but not knowing how. Gian managed a smile, a smile that held a hint of acceptance but also an undeniable trace of loss. "You know, I actually thought there was a chance for us."

I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele. Hated that in the name of love or protection alexander can treat another woman better, not just once, but with this new lorie girl... Oh my blood pressure getting higher cause by the new plot :(...

OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
