The warm air from the vents slowly filled the car. Kirsten leaned back against the passenger seat as the damp strands of hair on her forehead began to dry.
She didn't hesitate at Gian's suggestion, nodding immediately. "Okay, go ahead. I'd hate to get sick and be miserable at work tomorrow."
Their years of friendship had made her accustomed to his care. It was a kindness that felt so natural and easy that she never felt the need for polite refusals or guardedness.
With a quiet affirmation, Gian pushed the door open and once again plunged into the downpour. The rain fell in silvery sheets, instantly enveloping his figure and soaking his shirt through again, clinging to his back.
Kirsten watched him hurry toward the corner pharmacy, a small, unconscious smile playing on her lips. A wave of exhaustion washed over her. She'd tossed and turned all night dealing with calls from her family, and the day's drama at the conference had been draining. Now that she could finally relax, her eyelids felt as heavy as lead.
She shifted into a more comfortable position, closed her eyes, and quickly drifted into a drowsy sleep. Her breathing evened out, but a slight frown creased her brow, as if she were resisting something even in her dreams.
When Gian returned with cold medicine and a bottle of warm water, this was the scene that greeted him. In the dim light of the car, Kirsten's peaceful, sleeping face looked exceptionally soft. The sharp, carefree edges she usually wore were smoothed away by sleep, replaced by a rare, quiet vulnerability.
He moved quietly as he settled back into the driver's seat, careful not to wake her. He placed the medicine and water in the passenger-side compartment, then started the car and pulled away from the curb. Gian drove with focus, occasionally glancing at the sleeping woman beside him, worried that a bump in the road might startle her.
He knew that beneath Kirsten's freewheeling exterior, she carried a great deal of pressure—her family's relentless matchmaking, the forced prospect of a strategic marriage, and all the unspoken frustrations that made her life more tiring than it appeared.
The car drove smoothly into the quiet, upscale villa complex where Kirsten lived, the same one as Danielle, known for its serene environment and tight security. Gian parked in front of her apartment building and looked over at the still-slumbering Kirsten, finding himself in a bit of a predicament.
Gian glanced at the unrelenting downpour, then at the time on his watch, and shook his head. "No, it's getting too late. I should just head straight home."
He didn't want to disturb her rest, nor did he want to cross the line of their friendship. Even just having water in her apartment felt like a step too far.
Kirsten didn't insist. She was still sleepy and all she wanted was to take a quick shower and fall into bed.
"Alright then. Be careful on the road. Drive safe."
She grabbed her bag, pushed the door open, and made another dash into the rain, disappearing quickly into her apartment building.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell
Although she was one of the protagonist (and best friend of Danielle), I'm really annoyed with Kristen. What does she actually want? She wants to be completely free from Gian, whatever their business is. But when Gian doesn't care about her, she gets annoyed and overthinks. Hey, Kristen, the world doesn't revolve around you. You may follow your own feelings, but that doesn't mean you can ignore other people's feelings at all!...
It seems like this novel will end at chapter 5000. Every time one issue ends, another one pops up, and it seems like the author is just trying to drag it out. I'm starting to get tired of reading it....
I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele. Hated that in the name of love or protection alexander can treat another woman better, not just once, but with this new lorie girl... Oh my blood pressure getting higher cause by the new plot :(...
