“This is bad.” Alexander’s brow furrowed. “Another blizzard is coming.”
No sooner had he spoken than a fiercer gust of wind swept in, whipping the snow on the ground into white vortexes.
Visibility dropped to near zero, blurring everything in sight.
The wind was so strong Danielle could barely open her eyes or keep her footing.
Seeing this, Alexander immediately turned and grabbed her arm. “This way,” he said urgently.
He pulled her along, and she stumbled behind him as they ran toward a spot in the distance.
After a few minutes, a hidden cave came into view.
Its entrance was mostly covered by a thick drift of snow. If Alexander hadn't been leading the way, she never would have noticed it.
“There’s a cave here.”
As he spoke, Alexander pushed aside the snow blocking the opening. “The research staff usually take shelter here during emergencies.”
He pulled Danielle inside just as a deafening howl echoed from outside.
The gale, laden with ice particles, slammed against the rocks at the mouth of the cave with a dull thud.
It was warmer inside, or at least free from the biting wind.
Alexander let go of Danielle’s hand and turned to block most of the entrance with snow and rocks, leaving only a small gap for air.
Once that was done, he finally let out a breath, leaning against the cold rock wall and gasping for air.
Danielle’s gaze fell once more on his injured hand.
At some point, he had taken it out of his pocket.
The wound was soaked through with melted snow, the blood frozen into a thin shell of ice.
His entire hand was a bruised, purplish color, the knuckles turning a ghostly white. It looked like he had lost all feeling in it.
A sharp pang of guilt shot through Danielle’s heart. She rushed forward and grabbed his wrist.

I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele. OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
