The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 1245

Leaning against the headboard, Rebecca traced the patterns on the bedsheets with her fingertips, her eyes as calm and still as a frozen lake.

The assistant’s blunt “No” had made her finally, completely understand her place in Sammie’s heart.

She was just an old acquaintance, someone from his past, a person he was ordered to protect. Nothing more.

“I want to see him,” Rebecca said, her voice very soft.

The assistant was taken aback, clearly not expecting the request.

After a moment of hesitation, he nodded. “Alright, I will inform Mr. Sammie.”

The door closed gently, and the room returned to its dead silence.

Rebecca stared out the window.

She didn’t know how long she waited, so long that even the rhythmic beeping of the monitor became a numb drone.

Finally, the door was pushed open, and two figures walked in, one after the other.

Sammie led the way.

He was wearing a black trench coat, his posture tall and imposing, his features sharp and deep. But his usually stern face held a subtle softness she couldn't quite place.

And on his arm was Kathie.

Kathie wore an elegant white dress, her makeup perfect and her smile gentle, like a white rose blooming in the dead of winter.

When she saw Rebecca, she let go of Sammie’s arm and took two steps forward, her tone deliberately intimate. “Miss Rebecca, I didn’t expect to see you here.”

“Sammie said he was visiting a friend, so I tagged along. I hope you don’t mind.”

The question was polite on the surface, but every word dripped with a clear declaration of ownership.

He didn’t even look at her directly, his gaze fixed on the snowy landscape outside. “Miss Rebecca, I think you’ve misunderstood something.”

He paused, then turned his head, his dark eyes locking onto hers. He spoke each word with chilling precision, and they stabbed into her heart like icicles. “I have no reason to share my information with you.”

Ruthless and heartless.

That one short sentence was like a bucket of ice water poured over her head, instantly extinguishing every last ember of hope in her heart.

She stared at him, stunned. She looked at this man who had once stayed by her side, shielding her from every storm, and saw nothing but a stranger’s cold indifference in his eyes. Her own eyes began to sting, but not a single tear would fall.

Kathie stood to the side, taking it all in, a subtle, triumphant smile playing on her lips.

She stepped forward and took Sammie’s arm again, her voice a sweet, cloying whine. “Sammie, I told you so. This isn’t something we should be getting involved in.”

“Harold is a ruthless man. Why should we get dragged into this mess?”
