On the other end of the line, the VP’s voice, choked with tears, came through in a frantic, jumbled report of the situation back home. “Mr. Chapman, it’s bad!”
“Our shipments have all been intercepted, and our distribution channels in Nexopolis have been seized by the Atwood family!”
“And—and people from the Department of Commerce and federal agents suddenly showed up, accusing us of illegal operations and leaking state secrets. The company has been shut down!”
“What?” Harold’s pupils constricted, the phone nearly slipping from his grasp.
He clutched the device, his knuckles turning white as a firestorm of rage erupted in his chest, making him tremble. “The Atwood family? Gian?”
“Yes, it was Gian and his wife, Kirsten. They worked together, and they moved terrifyingly fast. We had no time to react!” the VP said. “Everyone at the company is panicking. The senior executives have all fled, leaving just a few of us behind.”
Harold’s face darkened with every word until it looked like it might bleed.
He ended the call and violently hurled the phone against the wall, where it shattered, scattering components across the floor.
Lorie stood beside him, her face as white as a sheet.
She had never imagined that Gian would pull the rug out from under them at a time like this.
The Gaylord Group was the Gaylord family’s lifeblood. If it collapsed, everything she had worked for would turn to dust.
“What do we do now?” Lorie’s voice trembled, stripped of its usual arrogance. “With the company back home shut down, we’re completely cut adrift out here in Antarctica.”
Harold took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down. He knew this was no time for temper tantrums.
The priority was to save their foundation back home.

OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
