Jake let out a cold laugh and walked straight to the hospital bed, looking down at Alexander. “I’ve come to see you. To see how you managed to send your own brother to prison.”
He didn’t even bother to pretend, laying his cards on the table.
“My own brother?” Alexander scoffed. “Harold doesn’t deserve that title.”
“And why not?” Jake shot back. “Alexander, stop playing dumb! Harold is your brother!”
“If the Chapman family hadn't adopted him, he would have died in an orphanage! Who do you think you have to thank for everything you have now?”
Alexander’s eyes turned icy. “What did you just say?”
“I said, Harold is your paternal half-brother!” Jake enunciated each word. “Years ago, Dad had an illegitimate son on the side. That son was Harold.”
“The Chapmans, wanting to curry favor with the Davidson family, offered to adopt him to keep the whole thing quiet.”
“Why do you think Harold has been targeting you all these years? He hates you! He hates you for taking everything that should have been his!”
Danielle stood nearby, a chill running down her spine as she listened, staring at Jake in utter disbelief.
She never could have imagined such a connection existed between Harold and Alexander.
“So what?” Alexander asked coolly.
Jake sneered, pulling a file from his pocket and slamming it onto the bedside table. “See for yourself. This is the adoption agreement from back then, and the paternity test report!”
“Wake up, Alexander! You and Harold share the same blood!”
Alexander’s gaze fell upon the document.
“Even if he’s my son, it’s useless.”
