Seeing her like this made Alexander's heart ache. Unable to resist, he leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead.
"Alexander," Danielle whispered. "Thank you."
"Why are you thanking me?"
Alexander smiled, carefully taking Niki from her arms.
His movements were incredibly gentle, terrified of waking the little girl. He supported her back and legs with a steady, practiced ease. "Come on. Let's go home."
"I had the kitchen make some chicken soup. It'll be perfect for Niki."
Danielle nodded, following him to the car.
Alexander delicately buckled Niki into the car seat in the back, tucking a soft blanket around her, before walking over to open the passenger door for Danielle.
Sliding into the seat, Danielle watched his attentive movements, a warm feeling spreading through her chest.
The heater in the car was running strong. Tucked into her seat, Niki quickly fell back into a deep sleep.
Alexander took the wheel. His eyes occasionally flicked to the rearview mirror, checking on Danielle. Seeing her staring blankly ahead, he softened his tone. "Don't overthink it. I'm here."
Danielle looked up, meeting his gaze.
She reached out, gently placing her hand over his on the center console. As their fingers touched, a comforting heat spread between them.
Alexander paused for a split second before flipping his hand over, intertwining his fingers tightly with hers.

The car pulled smoothly into the driveway of the Davidson family estate.
Alexander cut the engine. He glanced back at Niki sleeping peacefully, then turned to Danielle, who was still staring out the window. "We're here," he said softly.
Danielle snapped back to reality. Just as she went to push the door open, Alexander was already there, pulling it open for her.
He naturally placed a hand over the roof frame to protect her head—a gesture so practiced it felt like second nature.
"Careful," he murmured.
Danielle nodded. As she stepped out, her fingertips accidentally brushed the back of his hand. They both paused, sharing a quiet smile.
"I'll grab Niki." Alexander moved to the back seat, unbuckling the harness with care and lifting the little girl into his arms.
Niki was sound asleep. Her small head rested against his neck, her warm, milk-scented breath brushing his skin.
He moved with agonizing caution, his footsteps incredibly slow, terrified of startling the child in his arms.
Walking behind him, Danielle looked at his broad back and the tiny figure curled against his chest. The lingering frustration from Orson's ambush completely melted away, replaced by pure warmth.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell
It seems like this novel will end at chapter 5000. Every time one issue ends, another one pops up, and it seems like the author is just trying to drag it out. I'm starting to get tired of reading it....
I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele. Hated that in the name of love or protection alexander can treat another woman better, not just once, but with this new lorie girl... Oh my blood pressure getting higher cause by the new plot :(...
