She scoffed, her gaze landing on Danielle with a hint of mockery. "Miss Crawford, aren't you being a little too protective of Mr. Davidson? Hold on too tight, and you just might lose him."
The words struck a nerve. Danielle trembled slightly, instinctively tightening her grip on Alexander's arm.
Sensing her unease, Alexander immediately reached over and covered her hand with his. He shot Ella a cold look. "Ella, business partnerships are built on capability and sincerity, not cheap tricks."
"If you want to negotiate, show some genuine effort. As for teaching you how to ski, you're out of luck."
Without giving her a chance to reply, he turned and walked away, leading Danielle by the hand.
Ella watched them leave, her face flushing with humiliation. She bit her lip, a venomous glint flashing in her eyes.
She never expected Alexander to reject her so ruthlessly just for Danielle's sake.
Clenching her fists, she silently swore that she wasn't going to let this go.
Danielle and Alexander walked hand in hand until they reached a quiet, secluded stretch of snow.
Danielle kept her head down, a heavy weight pressing on her chest.
Ella's warning about holding on too tight echoed in her mind, leaving her flooded with insecurity.
Sensing her drop in mood, Alexander stopped and turned to face her.
He reached out, gently lifting her chin so she had to meet his eyes.
His gaze was endlessly tender, his voice a soothing murmur. "What's wrong? Are you still thinking about what she said?"
Danielle nodded, then shook her head. "I just..."
Before she could finish, Alexander pulled her into a warm embrace.
Resting his chin on top of her head, his voice was low, husky, and brimming with affection. "Don't overthink this."
"Danielle, I am never going to leave you. Never."
"We've already worked through all the misunderstandings from our past."
"All I've ever wanted is you and Niki."
He tightened his arms around her, holding her even closer. "Don't pay any attention to Ella. I know how to handle the business side of things."
"The Davidson Group will thrive just fine without her resources."
Leaning against his chest, Danielle listened to the steady, reassuring rhythm of his heartbeat, and her anxiety slowly melted away.
She wrapped her arms tightly around his waist and mumbled, "I know, but I still worry."
Alexander let out a low chuckle and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. "I'm right here. You have nothing to fear."
The sun dipped below the horizon, and the sky gradually darkened.
Exhausted from playing, Niki and Raffy ran over, grabbing their hands and clamoring to go back to the hotel for dinner.
Danielle and Alexander shared a smile before taking the kids by the hands and heading toward the resort.
By the time they returned, night had completely fallen.
The hotel was brilliantly illuminated against the dark snowscape.
He glanced at the screen and saw it was Gian.
He answered it, a hint of surprise in his voice. "Gian, what brings you to the ski resort?"
Gian's exasperated sigh came through the speaker. "Kirsten and I wanted to come up for a relaxing weekend, but it's peak season and every hotel is booked solid."
"You guys are up here, right? Any chance we could crash with you for the night?"
Alexander glanced at Danielle. Seeing her nod in agreement, he smiled and said, "Sure."
"Come on over. We're in a duplex suite, and we have a spare room."
Hanging up, Danielle looked a bit surprised. "Gian and Kirsten are here?"
"Yeah," Alexander nodded. "They said all the rooms were sold out, so they're going to crash with us."
Danielle smiled. "That's fine. The more the merrier."
It wasn't long before the doorbell rang.
Danielle got up to answer it, and sure enough, Gian and Kirsten were standing in the hallway.
Gian was wearing a sleek black ski suit, while Kirsten wore a cute pink one. Standing side by side, they looked incredibly good together.
However, Kirsten wore a look of utter resignation, and Gian was sporting a bitter smile.
"Sorry for the intrusion."

The readers' comments on the novel: The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell
Although she was one of the protagonist (and best friend of Danielle), I'm really annoyed with Kristen. What does she actually want? She wants to be completely free from Gian, whatever their business is. But when Gian doesn't care about her, she gets annoyed and overthinks. Hey, Kristen, the world doesn't revolve around you. You may follow your own feelings, but that doesn't mean you can ignore other people's feelings at all!...
It seems like this novel will end at chapter 5000. Every time one issue ends, another one pops up, and it seems like the author is just trying to drag it out. I'm starting to get tired of reading it....
I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele. Hated that in the name of love or protection alexander can treat another woman better, not just once, but with this new lorie girl... Oh my blood pressure getting higher cause by the new plot :(...
