Standing beside him, Danielle listened to him methodically orchestrate every detail. Waves of warmth washed over her, completely melting away her lingering disbelief and replacing it with a profound, grounded sense of happiness.

Kyle jotted down every note, letting out a teasing laugh. "Mr. Davidson, you're more invested in this than the bride herself!"

Alexander cast a sidelong glance at Danielle, a devastatingly tender smile curving his lips. "She deserves the best."

By the time they stepped out of Stardust Bridal, it was already mid-afternoon.

Settled into the passenger seat, Danielle couldn't hide her smile.

She turned her head to look at Alexander as he focused on the road, a massive grin tugging at the corners of her mouth.

As the car merged smoothly into the afternoon traffic, he suddenly spoke up. "For the venue, I locked down the Rose Estate on the outskirts of the city."

"You've always loved their massive rose gardens, right? They should be in full bloom right around the time of the wedding."

Danielle's eyes lit up instantly. "The Rose Estate?"

She vaguely recalled mentioning it to him once, years ago, dreaming out loud about how perfect the sweeping floral landscapes would be for a ceremony.

At the time, they had practically been at each other's throats. It was an offhand comment, and she was stunned he had remembered it all this time.

"Yeah." Alexander nodded. "I already had my team reach out to them. All I need is your approval to finalize the contract."

"Also, you mentioned Kirsten wants to turn it into a double wedding. I think it's a great idea. Twice the celebration, twice the fun."

Danielle beamed and nodded, her chest practically bursting with joy.

They arrived home just as evening settled in.

After freshening up and changing into a comfortable set of loungewear, Danielle sank onto the couch. Almost instantly, her phone buzzed. It was Kirsten.

Danielle arched an eyebrow, easily catching the distinct note of disappointment in her best friend's voice. "He might not care, but what about you? Do you have feelings for him?"

The line went dead silent for a few seconds. "What the hell are you talking about? It's a fake marriage. We're strictly allies. There's absolutely no way I'd—"

"A fake marriage?" Danielle cut her off, her tone dripping with confidence. "Kirsten, I've known you for years. You think I can't read you by now? The way you look at him is entirely different from how you look at anyone else."

"If you're into him, just test the waters. Don't bottle it all up inside."

Kirsten massaged her throbbing temples, sounding utterly defeated. "Test the waters?"

"The person he's actually in love with is you."

"Where did you even get that idea?" Danielle burst out laughing. "He treats me like a business ally. You seriously need to give yourself more credit."

"If he wasn't head over heels for you, why would he dive into a freezing pool fully clothed the second you fell in?"
