Kirsten got the job interview at Summit Tech through Danielle's recommendation, and Danielle only helped her find a job because Gian asked her to. Now that Luna Gaylord was also here for an interview, Kirsten couldn't help but overthink.
Did Gian know Luna was applying for the same role? Did he arrange it to make her uncomfortable and force her to quit? Or did he think Luna was better suited and used Danielle to hook her up?
The more Kirsten thought about it, the more annoyed she got. Her gaze toward Luna turned distant and cold.
Luna seemed to notice the shift. She smiled and offered an explanation. "I majored in law in college, but I ended up teaching piano because I love it. Still, I never completely dropped my degree."
"I occasionally help friends with legal issues. When I saw Summit Tech's posting, I thought it was a good fit, so I figured I'd try."
Kirsten didn't reply. She kept her eyes on her resume, her fingers unconsciously picking at the edge of the paper.
She knew Luna might be innocent in all this, but remembering her relationship with Gian—and seeing them come back to the old house together that day—made her chest tighten.
They sat in the conference room in awkward silence, the only sound being the soft hum of the AC.
Soon, the legal director and the HR manager walked in, and the interview began.
It went from self-introductions to highly technical questions. They covered everything from contract review protocols to commercial dispute strategies and IP protection. The scope was broad, the questions razor-sharp.
Both women performed exceptionally well. Both had formal law degrees, though Kirsten had extensive corporate experience.
Luna's practical skills from freelancing were surprisingly solid. They were neck and neck. The interviewers looked at them with evident satisfaction.
When it was over, they were told to go back and wait. Results would be out in three days.

His voice was gentle.
Kirsten stared at him, the chill in her eyes deepening.

What was his game?
Did he enjoy watching her play the clown in a script he wrote?
Anger and a suffocating wave of despair churned inside her, but she refused to show him even a sliver of it.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell
Although she was one of the protagonist (and best friend of Danielle), I'm really annoyed with Kristen. What does she actually want? She wants to be completely free from Gian, whatever their business is. But when Gian doesn't care about her, she gets annoyed and overthinks. Hey, Kristen, the world doesn't revolve around you. You may follow your own feelings, but that doesn't mean you can ignore other people's feelings at all!...
It seems like this novel will end at chapter 5000. Every time one issue ends, another one pops up, and it seems like the author is just trying to drag it out. I'm starting to get tired of reading it....
I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele. Hated that in the name of love or protection alexander can treat another woman better, not just once, but with this new lorie girl... Oh my blood pressure getting higher cause by the new plot :(...
