The tension inside the conference room was suffocating. Kirsten slid the neatly stacked documents across the table.
"Mr. Atwood, here are the organized files and Zenith’s preliminary legal analysis report regarding the dispute. Please review them."
Gian flipped through the pages, his eyes lingering on the pristine formatting. The ache in his chest deepened as he imagined her sitting alone in the dark, painstakingly putting it together.
"Did you stay up all night to finish this, Ms. Delaney?"
He asked, his tone laced with concern.
Kirsten snapped her gaze upward, a flare of anger in her eyes. "You should focus on Ninesky’s issues, Mr. Atwood. My health is none of your business."
"This report is Zenith's work product, so please stick to the content and leave the personal comments out of it."
Her words felt like a physical blow. Gian looked at her, entirely exposed.
"Kirsten, I’m just worried about you."
"Please be professional and call me Ms. Delaney."
Kirsten interrupted, her voice trembling slightly. "We have nothing to do with each other anymore. Keep your fake sympathy to yourself."
"I’m an employee at Zenith, and you’re the CEO of Ninesky. That’s the extent of our relationship."
Gian’s brow furrowed as his concern twisted into frustration.
"Fake sympathy? Kirsten, what exactly do you want from me? I know there’s a misunderstanding between us. I want to explain, but you won't even give me a chance."
"Explain?" Kirsten let out a dry, humorless laugh.
"What is there to explain? I don’t want to hear it."

Why did he push back when she clearly looked like she was falling apart?
He just wanted to care for her, and instead, he had driven her to collapse.
Without a second thought, Gian scooped her up and strode out of the conference room. The entire office stared in shock.
Kaylee stood frozen, completely at a loss for words as she watched the CEO of Ninesky carrying her intern.

Kirsten rested against his chest, her long lashes casting soft shadows on her pale skin like a wounded bird.
Gian could feel the weak, steady thud of her heart against his own.
The elevator doors slid open. Gian carried her inside and slammed the button for the lobby.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell
Although she was one of the protagonist (and best friend of Danielle), I'm really annoyed with Kristen. What does she actually want? She wants to be completely free from Gian, whatever their business is. But when Gian doesn't care about her, she gets annoyed and overthinks. Hey, Kristen, the world doesn't revolve around you. You may follow your own feelings, but that doesn't mean you can ignore other people's feelings at all!...
It seems like this novel will end at chapter 5000. Every time one issue ends, another one pops up, and it seems like the author is just trying to drag it out. I'm starting to get tired of reading it....
I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele. Hated that in the name of love or protection alexander can treat another woman better, not just once, but with this new lorie girl... Oh my blood pressure getting higher cause by the new plot :(...
