"If she knew you stayed up all night, she'd be moved."
"Go in and see her. Keep her company."
Gian Atwood looked at the door but ultimately shook his head. "No. Let her eat her breakfast and get some rest."
"I'll wait out here until she's ready to see me."
The nurse looked at his exhausted state and sighed inwardly. Not pushing the issue, she quietly walked away.
Inside the hospital room, Kirsten Delaney sat propped up in bed, staring at the bowl of oatmeal and fresh fruit on her tray without much of an appetite.
A full night's rest had done wonders for her body. The dizziness had faded, but her mind remained a chaotic mess.
She remembered the sight of Gian walking away last night. A strange sense of loss washed over her, and she couldn't even pinpoint exactly why it hurt so much.
Picking up her spoon, she took a small bite of the oatmeal.
She turned her head, gazing out the window.
"Ms. Delaney, you're recovering beautifully. We'll keep you under observation for one more day, and if everything looks good, you can go home tomorrow."
The nurse walked in with a warm smile, wrapping the blood pressure cuff around Kirsten's arm.
Kirsten nodded softly. "Thank you."
"You're very welcome."
The nurse packed up her equipment and chuckled. "You gave Mr. Atwood quite a scare when you collapsed yesterday. He stood outside the emergency room without sleeping a wink. And last night, he stayed right outside your door. He didn't move an inch, didn't even grab a bite to eat."

Picturing him standing guard in the cold hallway, the thin layer of ice around her heart shattered into a million pieces.
A suffocating wave of emotion surged from her chest, choking her. Her eyes instantly burned with tears, and her fingertips began to tremble.
She had always believed his concern was fake, his gentleness an act.
She thought every single thing he did was driven by guilt and obligation. She never realized he was silently protecting her in his own clumsy, stubborn way.
An entire night. A freezing wall, an aching body, endless waiting. He had just stood there, guarding her door.
Kirsten leaned back against the headboard, clapping a hand over her mouth to muffle her sobs.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell
Although she was one of the protagonist (and best friend of Danielle), I'm really annoyed with Kristen. What does she actually want? She wants to be completely free from Gian, whatever their business is. But when Gian doesn't care about her, she gets annoyed and overthinks. Hey, Kristen, the world doesn't revolve around you. You may follow your own feelings, but that doesn't mean you can ignore other people's feelings at all!...
It seems like this novel will end at chapter 5000. Every time one issue ends, another one pops up, and it seems like the author is just trying to drag it out. I'm starting to get tired of reading it....
I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele. Hated that in the name of love or protection alexander can treat another woman better, not just once, but with this new lorie girl... Oh my blood pressure getting higher cause by the new plot :(...
