The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 1449

Danielle and Alex exchanged a surprised look.

They both knew the complicated history between Rebecca and Sammie, but this sounded serious.

Danielle raised her knuckles and tapped lightly on the door.

The argument instantly died.

A second later, the door swung open. Rebecca stood there, looking awful. Her eyes were flashing with leftover anger and sheer exhaustion, her hair messy from running her hands through it. She had clearly been holding her own in a vicious fight.

Standing a few feet behind her in the center of the room was Sammie. His posture was rigid, his face an unreadable mask of cold fury, the air around him practically vibrating with tension.

He locked eyes with Danielle and Alex at the door.

Without a word of greeting, and without so much as a parting glance at Rebecca, he spun on his heel and stormed past them. His long strides carried him down the hall, his back stiff and completely unapologetic.

As he brushed past, the sheer hostility radiating off him was enough to suck the oxygen out of the room.

Danielle watched him disappear around the corner before turning back to her friend. "What was that about? Are you two okay?"

Rebecca took a deep breath and rubbed her temples, desperately trying to mask her shaking hands and the raw vulnerability in her eyes. "It's nothing. Just a stupid misunderstanding. Let it go."

"Come on in, grab a seat."

She stepped aside to let them in, shutting the door firmly behind them, as if trying to physically lock out the argument they had just witnessed.
