The air in the study was thick and heavy, charged with unspoken resentments.
Jake stared at his silent son, his patience wearing thin. “What do you want?” he finally asked, his voice cold. “Name your price. I’ll give you anything if you just hand over Heather.”
He assumed Alexander’s refusal was a negotiation tactic. Surely, if the offer was high enough, he would yield.
But Alexander simply sank back into his chair, his eyelids drooping, his expression as cold and hard as ice. He didn’t speak, didn’t even look up, acting as if he hadn’t heard a word. To him, this entire conversation was a farce. Jake was willing to discard his wife of several decades—and use his mother’s future as a bargaining chip—all for a woman who had betrayed them all. The irony was suffocating.
Seeing Alexander’s dismissive attitude, Jake’s anger flared again. He fought it down, forcing a softer tone. “Don’t worry. As soon as you give me Heather, I’ll make sure your mother is well taken care of. A house, money—whatever she wants, she’ll have it. I won’t shortchange her.”
As the words left his lips, a soft thud came from the doorway.
Both men whipped their heads around. Bianca stood there, her purse lying open on the floor, its contents—keys, phone, wallet—spilled around her feet. Her face was ashen, her lips trembling, her eyes wide with a disbelief so profound it bordered on hysteria.
Jake’s face darkened the moment he saw her. “What are you doing here?” he snapped. “Who told you to come?”
The study was suddenly empty, save for Alexander.
He stared at the vacant doorway, the crushing pressure in his chest becoming unbearable. His vision blackened at the edges, and a roaring filled his ears. The somatic symptoms of his depression had completely overwhelmed him. He couldn't hold on any longer.
With a soft thud, Alexander collapsed to the floor. Cold sweat beaded on his forehead, plastering his hair to his skin. He curled into a ball, his hands clutching at his chest, gasping for air that wouldn’t come. Each breath was a ragged, tearing agony.
Jake, who had just reached the hallway, heard the sound and paused, glancing back toward the apartment.

I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele. Hated that in the name of love or protection alexander can treat another woman better, not just once, but with this new lorie girl... Oh my blood pressure getting higher cause by the new plot :(...

This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
