Danielle leaned against the headboard, her grip on the sheets tightening until her knuckles were bone-white. Seeing Alexander standing there, unmoving, a low, self-mocking laugh escaped her lips.
"What is this? Do you feel sorry for me? Is this some kind of charity?" Her voice was hoarse from the alcohol, but each word was sharp, hanging like an icicle in the air. "I don't need it, Alexander."
"Just go. I don't want you here."
Alexander remained where he was, his tall frame unyielding, his expression unreadable. He simply watched her, a thousand unspoken words seemingly passing through his complex gaze before dissolving into silence.
His stoic presence only fueled her anger. She was about to say something more when a wave of dizziness washed over her, the alcohol surging back with a vengeance. She swayed, her vision blurring as her consciousness slowly submerged, as if being overtaken by a relentless tide.
In her last moment of clarity, she saw Alexander rushing toward her, his hand outstretched as if to catch her. Then, everything went black.

When she woke again, the sun was already up. Danielle tried to move, but her entire body ached, and her head felt like it was about to split open.
