Chapter 109
Connor
I almost laughed at that. “She’s not a thing for you to own”
“You know what I mean.”
“I know exactly what you mean,” I nodded. “And I’m telling you, as clearly as I know how to say it. Get this thing in your head, Aaron. She’s not yours. She was never yours. You had twenty years to see her and you saw her as just a piece of furniture.”
Aaron’s jaw set. “Don’t tell me what I did or didn’t do with my best friend”
“You had twenty years.” I pointed a finger at him. “And I’ve been back for barely a few weeks, and you’ve noticed her for the first time. And let me also tell you that I know the reason you’ve noticed her is because I did. Which tells you everything you need to know about what you actually feel, which is territorial, not care or concern for your supposed friend”
“Don’t psychoanalyze me,” Aaron grit his teeth, his voice with heat in it now. “You don’t get to show up after fifteen years and take everything from me.”
I didn’t take anything,” I pointed out. “She is a person of her own free will and she made a choice.”
Aaron shook his head, thrusting his hands in his pockets. “Just because she is sweet and naive, you are using her because she is not in the right mindset to think clearly”
“You sent a man to drug her drink,” My finger was no longer stabbing the air but his chest now. “Don’t you even dare deny it”
“1. Aaron sputtered.
“And hired three others to pretend to assault her so you could rescue her. So you have absolutely no right to even start a conversation about who’s using what.”
Aaron lost his cool and grabbed my collar which didn’t really surprise me.
Aaron had always had a shorter fuse than he let most people see, he was used to getting whatever he wanted without struggle because he was the golden and spoiled child of the Ashford alpha and the woman who made him feel whole again after his previous partner fell ill.
Ironic that they hail him as a dutiful, perfect alpha for keeping me, the son of the woman who lost her mind and is in a mental asylum, out of pity,
It was only the pack rules and the fact that I was born earlier than Aaron that I was even allowed to use the Ashford surname. And Aaron hated me for that.
He held onto my collar and there was genuine anger behind it. “She came to me first,” he was shouting “Everytime you fucking made her cry and bawl her eyes out, she came to me. She has always trusted me but t am not sure what lies you fed her to turn her against me”

I took his wrist and removed his hand from my collar in a single move and then I grabbed his in return.
“This was the last time I let you touch me” I bit out and walked him backward until his back slammed into the pillar behind him, making him bite down a painful groan.
“You have a girlfriend, remember?” I reminded him in case he had forgotten all about her.
“Who you went back to fuck in that diner despite seeing Sienna standing in the hallway, staring at you. That same dumb blonde who organized an entire anniversary celebration for your parents and stood by the cake table waiting for you while you were in a library with Lily Graham.” I looked at him evenly and his face turned an interesting shade of green.
“We can have this conversation about Sienna whenever you’d like. After you’ve had it with yourself about what you’re actually doing.”
Aaron’s face went several colors in rapid succession.
“Lily is… that was….”
“None of my business,” I completed the line for him. “Correct. Just like Sienna is none of yours.”
“That’s completely different”
“It is not. What Sienna and I have,” I clarified, “is none of your business. That’s the last time I’m going to say it.
I let go of his collar and straightened my jacket before turning away because it looked like Aaron was at a loss of words.
“She’s not going to love you,” Aaron shouted to my back. “You know that, right? You’re her bully. You made her cry for a decade. She might sleep with you but she’s never going to give you her heart. You know that right?”
I stopped walking and turned around.
“Sienna is not like the girls you sleep with. She wants a forever after, commitment and a man who can marry her.”
Aaron pointed at himself. “And you know who ticks all those boxes? Newsflash- It’s me, not you.”
“So what? You are going to leave Sandra for her?” I retorted and that made him pause.
“Thought so”
“She is better alone than with a soulless, cocky playboy like you and you know that so if you ever cared about her, you would let her find a good man for herself. You would stop trying to lure her with your pretty lies and smooth talk because you and I both know that you aren’t the man she should end up with.”
I stared at him, blinking slowly.
Fuck, did she deserve me? Was I good enough for her? I had been so obsessed with the idea of keeping her to myself, I had never stopped to think if she deserved a cold and selfish bastard like me

“That’s her choice to make, not yours” I said, physically stopping myself from walking over to beat the shit out of him..
Aaron read something in my expression and took a half–step back, which was the right instinct.
“Yeah, just like what you have always done. You cant see me happy and want to snatch everything thats good in my life, don’t you, you miserable, son of a…”
