I swallowed hard. I didn’t want to spoil the entire evening or damage his image in front of the elders and guests “It’s fin think my wrist got caught up in something”

I took a step forward but instead he pulled me back towards him, shaking his head. Then he slowly raised my hand to it to his eye level and examined it.

“Those red marks don’t appear unless someone tried to forcefully grab you. So just tell me who dared misbehave with His tone left no room for argument.

By now the entire room was watching. Even Asher, Lydia, Aaron, and Sandra who were in the main dining hall had stepp out in the living room with the elders in tow.

All of them had turned their full attention toward us. The air felt thick with tension.

I tried again, voice low. “Connor, please. I told you its nothing”

“Nobody stays in the same room with me after disrespecting my woman,” he said coldly, loud enough for the whole hall to hear. “So you either tell me who did this… or I punish everyone for it.”

A nervous ripple went through the crowd and people shifted uncomfortably.

Alpha Asher stepped forward.

“What is going on here?” He asked and then looked at Connor.

“Come. The elders of the pack are waiting for you”

“Would you focus on work or literally anything else if someone dared insult your Luna in your own home?” He asked Alph Asher.

He never raised his voice against Alpha Asher and he was doing it this time….for me. Again, I would be the reason for discord between him and his father.

A muscle in Alpha Asher’s jaw twitched but he didn’t say anything.

Connor simply raised my hand and rolled my sleeves up to show the red marks on my wrist.

“Look at this, look at her face. She looks utterly terrified and some bastard here had the nerve to put hands on her. I will not participate in the dinner or any talks until I find out who did this.”

Connor’s gaze flicked to Aaron who was standing partially behind his father. Connor immediately took a step forward.

“Did you hire someone again?” He scowled and Aaron shook his head, shivering like a leaf

“What? No! Why would you even say such a thing!” Aaron’s voice trembled with fear as he too recalled Connor’s wrath from

the last time.

“Connor, please” I turned to beg him. “Let’s not do this and spoil your chances of…”

“I dont fucking care about the alpha seat if I can’t protect my woman. How the hell would my pack and my family respect me, trust me to save them if someone can do this to you under my root?”

His voice climbed an octave, anger radiating off him like a wolf possessed. Several guests stepped back, fearing for

lives.

“Whoever did this, better come forward yourself or I will have no choice but to punish all of you. Nobody will leave room until I get the culprit”

Even Alpha Asher seemed taken aback by Connor’s anger but it didn’t look like he was going ot stop him.

“Guards! Lock the doors. We are doing this the hard way!”

Panic spread acHolden the room. Shit, this was going south very fast.

Rory slipped further inside and looked around for the nearest exit but all of it was now blocked by the guards.

Connor looked around at the crowd and his gaze stopped on one of Rory’s friends who was sweating like a pig.

“You!” Connor growled and raised a finger, beckoning him to come forward.

The crowd quickly parted to give way to him. The man joined his hands together, his lips trembling in fear.

He came to stand in front of Connor who grabbed him by the scruff of his neck and pulled him closer. The man was a b short and Connor effortlessly lifted him up like he weighed nothing.

The man was already crying, struggling to speak.

“Did you do it?”

He kept mewling like a cat.

“ANSWER ME!!!” Connor’s voice boomed through the hall and it nearly rattled the windows all around us.

He looked around hurriedly and pointed a trembling finger to the left. “It was him! That one over there!”

Everybody turned to look at Rory whose face went pale. Connor let go of the man whose feet was dangling in the air and h crumpled down on the floor, letting out a soft groan.

Meanwhile, Rory tried to smile, stepping back.

“Alpha Connor, I would never disrespect your partner. It was just a misunderstanding”

Connor simply walked back to me and intertwined our fingers more firmly

“Connor, stop please”

But he kept walking us forward until we stood directly in front of the man.

Rory immediately tried to switch tactics, smiling broadly. “Alpha Connor! It’s an honor. How have you been? The border negotiations must have gone well if you’re back so soon”

Connor’s voice was ice. “Your name and pack.”

The man stammered it out. “Alpha Rory of the nightfall pack. We are a small pack in the northern region and…”

Connor scratched his temple thoughtfully, the movement drawing attention to the fresh scratch there.

“Ah. So you’re the reason I had to personally go and sort out the mess in the northern region?”

Rory blinked in surprise
