Chapter 206

I peered intently at the scene from outside the office glass door, trying to ascertain what they could be talking about.

Alpha Asher looked grim and Connor was standing stiffly in front of his father.

His father hadn’t come to check on his son, just greeted him like a colleague at the breakfast table and now he seemed upset about something.

What could it be?

Was somehow I the reason for this?

I clutched my chest and then saw Connor nod briefly signalling the end of the conversation. I slid further behind the pillar, willing my breath to slow down.

The slight squeak of the door opening behind me reached my ears soon followed by Alpha Asher walking away briskly.

I waited until he had climbed down the stairs and was well away from my sight for good measure before I even considered moving.

Once I knew the coast was clear I smoothed down my dress and hair and peered from behind the pillar

again.

Connor had turned his back to me now and was facing the huge floor to ceiling windows. His shoulders looked tense and I leaned a bit to look at his side profile.

He was holding a coffee mug in his hand, gripping it a bit too tightly. His jawline looked sharper than the glass panels around him and goddess that hair…

I shook my head. What the hell was I doing?

How could someone that good looking even entertain the idea of wanting me for real?

Jane was just too optimistic and watched too many romance novels.

Wait, why was I here again?

Right, I wanted to talk to Connor..but was this the right time to spring that upon him?

I debated for a while, decided I would talk to him about this later and turned around to sneak away.

But then I saw that stupid intern arrive and gently knock on his door. I had seen her walk around office attire but was that skirt too tight and small or was I imagining it?

He must have permitted her to come in because she strutted in. She had also apparently put on ma and styled her hair and was batting her fake eyelashes at him.

She showed him some file and they began talking about work. Connor was distracted and kept sipping on

his coffee while the girl kept looking at him sheepishly, blushing every 2 seconds.

What the hell was happening?

He was her boss for fuck’s sake.

The girl then not so clumsily dropped her pen that rolled towards Connor’s feet. She didn’t wait and bent. down, letting her fingers brush över his shoes and even his pants as she pretended to lose her footing.

She stumbled upon air and one of Connor’s hand shot out to steady her.

“Are you okay?” I heard him mouth and she nodded, blushing again and muttering something to him.

Connor now had turned fully to look at her, the coffee mug placed on his desk.

He was looking at her with concern about whatever she was saying and my mind decided that this was the perfect moment to butt in.

So I just crossed the distance in four strides, reached for the doorknob and walked in without bothering to knock.

“…you are very nice and so patient with me…”

I stormed in making as much noise as possible, clicking my boots angrily against the polished marble floor.

The intern immediately stepped back like I had caught her doing something shady.

“Sienna, you are back so soon?”

Connor looked up at me in surprise.

“Why? You didn’t want me to?”

He blinked. “Of course not”

“What?”

“I mean I thought you wanted a day off the mansion so you would spend time with your friend”

The intern was still hovering close to Connor, not stepping away or excusing herself even after seeing her future Luna arrive.

“I changed my mind. I need to talk to you about something”

“Sure, give me a second” Connor nodded then looked at the intern.

“Can you check my calendar for today and tell me where I have an hour or more of t

The intern nodded and quickly scurried outside to check her laptop.

“Shouldn’t she know your schedule by heart now?”

Connor cocked an eyebrow. “Its okay, she is still learning”

I pouted. “And dont you have a dress code? In fact, I think you should move the office to somewhere else outside the mansion.”

Connor looked down at himself. “I think I am dressed fine?”

“I wasn’t talking about you” I huffed.

“Okay and why do you want the office to be moved elsewhere?”

I shrugged. “No reason in particular.”

He leaned on the desk, placing his hands on the edges for support and gripping it lightly.

“Okay, what’s happened? You appear in a mood today”

I narrowed my eyes on him. “What do you mean? Can’t I make a honest suggestion?”

He had opened his mouth to answer but then the girl peeked in from the front door. “Your day is packed with meetings for today, Connor”

I whirled around to look at her. “Connor?”

She gave me a hesitant smile. “Uh, boss told me it was okay if I referred him with his first name”

“Absolutely not” I muttered with more irritation than necessary, making her straighten immediately.

“I mean…” I lowered my voice and evened out my tone. “This is a working space so its not appropriate to refer to your senior with his first name.”

Her face crumpled a little.

“But sir said…”

“I am saying please maintain decorum.”

She nodded slowly and I tapped my foot impatiently against the floor.
