Chapter 216
Sienna
He finished his plate a lot faster than I could but I achieved that feat only because I would be embarrassed to see him stare at my plate every five seconds.
“Done?” He asked and I nodded.
Breakfast had ended, but my stomach hadn’t gotten the memo, growling audibly enough that I was fairly sure Connor heard it from across the table.
“Want another plate of salad?” he asked, not looking up from his phone.
“No,” I replied a bit too soon but I would rather starve than eat grass again, and I had a feeling that we both
knew it.
He’d barely spoken through the whole meal, which was somehow worse than if he’d said something pointed.
I kept sneaking glances at him, trying to gauge where exactly last night had left us.
I did not ask even when the words were dancing on my tongue and I was extremely proud of myself for that.
I was determined to do better today and then have a face to bring up the topic again.
We got up from the table, and I turned automatically toward the gym, my body already bracing for another round of humiliation involving equipment I didn’t understand.
“Not there,” his voice reached me.
I turned back. “What?”
“Today’s training will happen outside.”
I glanced past him toward the main hall, where two servants were already moving through their morning routine, one dusting a side table, another adjusting the flower arrangement Luna Lydia insisted on having changed daily.
The idea of doing whatever humiliating thing Connor had planned in full view of an audience made my stomach drop somewhere near my shoes.
“Can we train somewhere private?” I asked, keeping my voice low.
He was about to shake his head when I hastily added, “Please.”
Something flickered across his face and he nodded once but didn’t elaborate on what we were going to do today or where.
He simply picked up two bottles of water, a towel and started walking towards the mansion gates, past the manicured lawns, and I broke into a short sprint to keep up because his stride ate up more ground than iny feet could at a time.

“Isn’t the morning beautiful today? I have a feeling today’s training will go better than before”
again didn’t respond but just stepped out the mansion gate and I followed through.

He was just walking towards the forest and I looked at the dense greenery that started just a few feet away from the huge backyard.
The thought of going into that densely packed forest made me queasy.
“Are we going in the forest?” I asked but thankfully he didn’t venture in.
“We will train here”
I didn’t want the servants watching my clumsy attempts but I should have clarified I didn’t want wild animals taking me for easy prey and attacking me either.
“Uh okay”
I looked around, there was no equipment, nothing except the bottles of water and towel that he placed on a rock near him.
I could still see the mansion’s roofline through the trees if I turned around. The sun had just cleared the horizon, throwing long gold light across the clearing, and somewhere nearby a bird was chirping loudly.
Connor simply straightened to face me and did nothing.
He just stood there, arms loose at his sides, watching me with an expression I couldn’t read.
The silence stretched long enough that I started shifting my weight from foot to foot, waiting for him to produce a ruler, a wooden plank, or some other humiliating prop from thin air.
But nothing came.
“So,” I blurted out finally, unable to stand it. “When do we start?”
“We already did,” he answered.
I blinked. “What does that mean?”
He didn’t answer and I was about to ask if he found it funny when suddenly I felt something.
