Chapter 253
Sienna
Alpha Asher seemed to consider it because he didn’t continue reprimanding me.
Connor let a second of silence pass before clearing his throat.

“As I was saying,” Connor continued evenly, “we nearly caught the full group. I eliminated most of the men.”
Asher looked unimpressed. “Most of the men, not all”
I blinked, trying to process the conversation. Were they talking about the club from last night and the attack?
“Yes. But we stopped the trafficking attempt last night.”
My eyes widened. So was that Connor’s mission? To bust a human trafficking racket?
“We?” Asher’s eyes moved to me and I subconsciously moved closer to Connor without meaning to.
“Sienna and I. We worked on the mission together last night. Her contribution was significant”
I stared at him. “It was?”
The look Connor gave me was sharp enough to cut through stone.
I shut my mouth and nodded too quickly, cheeks burning.
“Yes alpha. We worked together on the mission last night.”
Alpha Asher’s gaze settled on me fully. The weight of it made my shoulders want to hunch.
But his question was directed at Connor.
“And why would you involve her in a dangerous task? Especially knowing very well that she neither has a wolf nor the courage to tackle goons.”
Ouch. He could have worded it nicely but the judgement hit me like a slap.
“And that is exactly why she was useful” Connor stayed unfazed while I tried hard to understand how being a wolfless coward would help him.
For a second, I thought he was mocking me but then his face remained calm and unbothered.
Alpha Asher considered it. “Is that so? Well then I am sure Sienna can share some details of how she was of help to you”
Oh fuck.
My mind emptied completely and I screamed at it to invent something instead of just standing here silent

like a child.
I was silent for too long of a second so Connor nudged me.

“Tell him what you did, Sienna. Don’t worry” He then looked at his father. “She gets nervous around powerful alphas. She also got a bit nervous last night but did incredibly well”
He looked at me again. “Right, Sienna?”
I blinked and nodded. “I, uh, yes.”
I looked at Alpha Asher and mumbled. “I danced last night”
The silence that followed my line was too loud and I mentally scolded myself fo sounding so dumb and stupid.
“You….danced?” Alpha Asher asked, one eyebrow raised.
A nervous laughter slipped out of me.
“1…”
“She means she sneaked in the dance crew and pretended to be one of them to be my eyes and ears up there on the stage”
Connor spoke so confidently, had I not been there last night, I would have readily believed him.
“Didn’t you, Sienna?” Connor’s eyes were wide with warning.
“I yes…” I chuckled nervously, pretended it to be a cough and coughed a few times, stalling for time.
Connor smiled at his father and rubbed my back.
“It’s just that last night’s experience left her a little weak and shaken”
Oh, I was weak and shaking a lot. My knees were trembling a little and my body felt weak but not because of the events of the club but those on his lap and then on his bed.

“Like Connor mentioned, I… helped with surveying the entire area,” I said, and immediately hated how thin it sounded. “I watched the outside and the perimeter from a raised platform so no one could come up behind him.”
“Interesting” Alpha Asher muttered and I had no idea if that meant he was impressed or annoyed.
Connor’s thumb pressed against the inside of my wrist. I kept going because silence felt more dangerous than a bad answer.
“There were a few of the men amongst the customers who seemed to be our targets but we waited until I could confirm our suspicion based on whatever intel Connor had provided me. I signaled to him with a twirl

when it was clear. I stayed back and watched while he handled the rest. That was my part. I twirled a lot actually and…”
Connor pressed harder and I took that as a sign to not blabber.
Alpha Asher studied me. “How many men were there in total?”
I hesitated, heart hammering so hard I was sure they could hear it. “Seven, as far as I know. There could be
more.”
Alpha Asher looked between us for a long moment. I tried not to shift on my feet and failed. My wrist still rested in Connor’s grip and I hated how much the contact steadied me.
“Then why,” he asked, “did you come into my office insisting it wasn’t Connor’s fault?”
My mind stalled again. I had nothing polished left. The truth that I had assumed this was about the club, and somehow Connor was being punished because of my fault sat uselessly on my tongue.
“I thought he was in trouble,” I answered quietly, eyes dropping for a second before I forced them back up. “So I thought I should clear that up.”
Connor’s grip tightened.
“She’s protective,” he added with an off handed smile. “She is just too obsessed with me and fears about my safety when I work in dangerous situations”
Obsessed?
Alpha Asher looked at me. “Well, you should get used to it. Being an alpha, if he gets the throne, will make him face even more dangerous situations in life.”
“Yes alpha” I lowered my head.
