Chapter 83
Sienna
I pulled out the dress out of the first bag and was immediately surprised with how beautiful it was.
There were delicate embroidered flowers all across the long, satiny fabric with a corset bodice and bow straps. There was a slit up the thigh and when I put it on, I stared at the reflection in wonder because it truly made me look glamorous.
My mood had improved considerably as I reached for the other bag and pulled out high heels that would go perfectly with the dress.
I didn’t even recall Aaron gifting me something special on any of my birthdays so far so I wondered where he was going with this. I wasn’t even looking forward to meeting his friend aka the blind date to be honest because my heart was already too confused between the brother around me and the brother thousands of kilometers away.
I turned in front of the bathroom mirror and shook my head to get rid of those confusing thoughts.
Reaching for a comb, I started brushing my hair and then put on light mascara, a bit of blush and pink lipstick, nothing heavy.
“What is taking you so long?” Aaron’s voice came through the door.
“I’m nearly done,” I called back, sliding the heels on and taking three seconds to appreciate my reflection before I opened the bathroom door.
“I didn’t know you also took…” Aaron had begun but then his gaze fell on me and his mouth stayed half open. He stood there and ran his gaze up and down slowly and I felt heat climb my neck.
“Well?” I asked.
“You look…” He stopped for a second and exhaled. “Like a clown?” I offered.
“…gorgeous,” he said, and I tried not to let my cheek turn the exact shade of my dress.
“I don’t even know who I dressed up for,” I said in a lame attempt to fill in the awkward silence.
Then Aaron closed the distance between us and pressed a light kiss to my cheek, making my skin tingle.
“I picked the dress,” he said, “so I dare say you dressed up for me.”
“Very funny”
I laughed despite myself as he grinned and then held out a hand.
“Allow me, please”

Chapter 83
Oh damn, I was getting princess treatment tonight.
I slipped my hand in his as he guided me out of my room and towards the front door.

Mom was in the living room when we came through, and she looked up from her book. She took in the sight of me and closed the book immediately,
“You look beautiful, sweetheart,” she said.
“Thanks, Mom.”
Her eyes moved to Aaron. “Are you two going somewhere? I didn’t even see you arrive.”
“I am taking her to a friend’s party because she can’t sit in her room all day,” Aaron nodded. “It is nothing fancy and you don’t have to worry at all. I’ll take care of her, I promise.”
Mom nodded, and then looked around the room as if she was looking for someone specific. “Is your girlfriend joining you?”
“She’s waiting for us back at the estate,” Aaron said. “We’ll leave together from there.”
“Right.” Mom looked at him a second longer than the response required, then looked back at me with an expression I couldn’t entirely decode.
“Take care of yourself. Text me when you get there.”
She had never said that when I was with Connor, never looked so stiff and formal despite the fact that Aaron had been a constant presence in my life.
Connor on the other hand had barely shown up weeks ago and yet she beamed at him like he was this proverbial good boy she couldn’t stop gushing about.
Weird.
“I will,” I said, and kissed her cheek, and followed Aaron out.
Aaron held the door open of his sleek red car and helped me get in, even gathered the skirt and gently tucked
it inside before scurrying over to get in the driver’s seat.
“Woah, what has gotten into you?” I asked.
He pouted. “What? You are behaving as if I am never chivalrous.”
“Not to me” I quipped. “You only saw me as a person, not as a beautiful girl, remember?”
He started the ignition and hit the road.
“I see you as my person first and foremost.”
I looked away from him, not wanting him to see how those words affected me.

“Where exactly are we going?” I asked, watching the streetlights start as we left the residential streets. “I want to know if I should be worried.”
“You don’t need to.”
“That’s what people say before something worrying happens. So if you are going to throw me at a serial killer, I need to be prepared.”
He glanced at me sideways. “Well, I wanted you to meet someone, a good friend of mine but now that your mom mentioned it, the idea doesn’t sound that bad.”
I stared at him. “What idea?”
“A double date. It would help Sandra and you bond over again”
