The Year I Was the Other Woman To Myself novel Chapter 847

Penelope explained everything to Heath. She told him how Mrs. Stapleton had given birth to Norton purely to replace a daughter who had died, only to harbor a deep resentment toward him because he was born a boy.

It was a painful chapter of the past, one Penelope absolutely hated revisiting.

Norton was such a wonderful kid, yet his life was a relentless tragedy. He craved a mother's affection so desperately that, in a bid to win her love, he had even considered transitioning. He was already drowning in despair, only to be betrayed by his own teacher, butchered for his organs, and left to die in agonizing pain.

She couldn't bear to imagine the sheer terror he must have felt in those final moments. This was exactly why Theodore was so relentlessly determined to hunt Harvey Haynes down.

"I thought he was a young heir to a wealthy family... I thought he had a perfect life... I had no idea," Heath sobbed, covering his face as tears slipped uncontrollably through his fingers.

"Heath, I know you were entirely in the dark when they stole his heart. And I know that ever since you found out, you've been torturing yourself out of guilt. We can't really bring ourselves to hate you. But by protecting your father and refusing to tell us his location, do you truly believe you carry no sin?"

"I..." Heath looked up at Penelope, his eyes burning with inner turmoil. "Please, stop pushing me. My dad has been living like a fugitive just to save me. If I sell him out, what kind of monster would I be?"

"Then think about Norton..."

"You brought all these things just to torture me!" he suddenly screamed, his emotions fracturing completely.

Penelope frowned. "If that's how you see it, then fine. But you need to understand that your body is failing. If you want to survive, you need a second transplant. Do you honestly think your dad and your sister will just stand back and watch you die? They are fully capable of murdering a second person to save you. Another young kid exactly like Norton."

"You might want to stop them, but could you actually do it?"

"Could you truly live with a second innocent life on your conscience?"

Penelope laid out the brutal truth, praying that at least one sentence would pierce his defenses.
