Chapter 284
Zora’s POV
I had only just closed my eyes when I felt the warm press of lips against mine. Blinking awake, I looked up and into the weary but pleasant gaze of one of my mates. Valentin, who I haven’t seen in some time, smiled down at me. He was leaning over me, his arms on either side of his shoulders, his lower body resting against my side.
“I’m sorry to wake you,” he said softly. “It’s still night. But I couldn’t resist.”
I smiled in turn. “I don’t mind when it’s you.” Gods, how I missed him. It felt like forever since I had last seen him. Reaching up, I encircled my arms around him and pulled him down into my embrace. He came willingly, bending his arms until he rested on top of me, his body a pleasant weight on mine, pinning me to the mattress.
“Tell me you don’t have to leave again,” I whispered.
He didn’t answer. Instead, he kissed a line up my neck, across my cheek to my lips. His mouth over mine, he devoured me, stealing away every thought, every worry, until there was nothing left but… Valentin.
He kissed me like a dying man, after his first taste of water, delving his tongue deeply into my mouth. I met his searching tongue with my own, and we traced circles around each other’s mouths while his hands slipped down, finding the bottom of my sleep–shirt and sneaking under it.
His hands on my bare skin made me moan, breaking the kiss for only a moment before he claimed my lips again in a kiss just as searing, as passionate.
His hands slid up my front, and I shivered in anticipation. Then they found my breasts. I arched my back, pressing myself more fully into his hands.
I turned my face away from his kiss, needing to breathe. To moan. He dragged his mouth to my ear.
“I missed you,” he whispered, his voice breathy. “Allow me to show you how much.”
“Yes,” I whispered, wanting to show him just as much, having missed him myself. I clawed at his shirt. “Take this off. All of it.”
He grinned, his small burst of laughter a hot puff of breath against my ear. “Only if you do the same.”
Valentin was quick though. He leaned up and removed all of his clothes, then reached to help me with mine. Fortunately, for sleep, I only had on a t–shirt, flannel pants, and comfortable cotton pajamas. He removed each with speed but also with care, making certain not to tear anything.
I adored how careful Valentin was. He made me feel like I was so special to him. Someone precious to be cared for and loved so gently, like I might break. I wasn’t going to break, not this time. Not ever, under his kind yet still torturous hands. Not unless he stopped touching me.
It had been too long since we’d been together. Our bond thrummed pleasantly but somewhat thinly. We needed to strengthen it again. And the only way we could do that was with him inside of me.
