Chapter 291
Zora’s POV
After speaking with Max, I was even more conflicted with what I should do, not less. I needed to consummate my bond with Neo to have enough power to hold back the looming vampire threat. But, at the same time, I didn’t want to rush my own heart.
I cared for Neo, but I cared about my other mates too. I wasn’t going to push them to accept Neo before they were ready, or all of my bonds could be affected.
Lost, I had no idea what to do. But the only thing I could think of was talking to Neo, trying once more to make him understand. Max went with me, out to talk to the others. He stayed with Thorne and Kairos as I went farther, looking for Neo.
True to his earlier word, he hadn’t gone far. I found him lingering in old ruins, the skeletal remains of a dilapidated castle. He looked as lost as I felt, staring down at the fallen walls with a hint of melancholy.
“Neo,” I said, and he looked up at me, his gaze suddenly sharp as if I had imagined the longing on his face only a moment ago. “The others let you come out here? To speak with me alone?” Neo asked, a hint of bitterness in his voice.
“I don’t need their permission,” I said. “We belong to each other, but we don’t control one another.” “Yes you refuse with me until you have gained their permission.”
“That's, trust is important,” I said
