Lucy hurried out of the kitchen, and when she saw Paula having an attack, she was so shocked that she dropped the rag without thinking and rushed to get Paula’s medicine.

Paula was in so much pain that her breathing turned shallow and uneven, her mind clouded by the agony.

Her body started contorting from the pain.

Lucy searched for several minutes, but the more frantic she got, the more she fumbled around, making everything messier. Emily poked her head out from Eric’s arms, sounding annoyed. “Lucy, seriously? You’ve been with the Andersons forever. How can you not know where Mom keeps her medicine?”

Lucy was so frantic that her eyes were brimming with tears. “For the past two years, it’s always been Whitney, the one who takes care of Paula at home, and Paula hasn’t gone to the hospital for new medicine in over a year.”

Emily’s lips moved, and her face instantly darkened.

Lucy waved her hands in panic. “It’s really not my fault! I kept reminding Paula to pick up her medicine.

“But she thought she hadn’t had an attack in ages, and her health was getting better, so she figured she didn’t need to go anymore.”

Everyone knew the real reason that Paula had not had any attacks lately, and her health had improved.

Emily felt more suffocated and upset.
