Chapter 138 Treating Ryan
Chapter 138 Treating Ryan
Ryan never expected that the one he’d been looking for was right under his nose.
Ryan thought, ‘No wonder when I mentioned that Davis, the president of the Medical Association, wanted to observe her treating me, Whitney stayed perfectly calm. She didn’t bat an eye, nor did she show any interest in Davis at all.’
Ryan had listened to Davis brag about his mentor more times than he could count.
Whenever Davis got started, he’d gush for hours straight, never running out of new stories.
Davis had become the president of the Medical Association, and his expertise was unmatched across all of Centlandia. There was hardly anyone who could come close.
He thought, ‘And yet, Whitney, so young, has Davis totally in awe of her.
‘That goes to show how insanely skilled Whitney is.’
Whitney glanced up at Ryan.
For once, Ryan’s usually calm and composed face showed a hint of surprise and shock.
That rare emotion actually gave his cold, almost otherworldly features a touch of warmth, and made him seem a bit more alive.
Whitney’s lips curled into a playful smile as she tilted her head. “Yeah, I’m Davis’s mentor.”
“You never told me,” Ryan said, pressing his lips together, sounding a little aggrieved.
Whitney shrugged, giving him an innocent look. “Well, you never asked.”
Ryan fell silent.
He thought, ‘Most people would never link a nineteen-year-old girl like Whitney to being Davis’s mentor.’
Ryan was quiet for a few seconds, then suddenly blurted out a line so cheesy and over-the-top, “Woman, how many more surprises are you hiding from me?”
Whitney snorted with laughter.
She thought, ‘Seriously, how does he pull off such a cringey line with that godlike face?
‘But honestly, no matter how dramatic or soap-opera cheesy that line is, when Ryan said it, it doesn’t come off as awkward or off-putting at all. No one can feel any discomfort or annoyance.
‘On the contrary, it is actually kind of cute.
“Guess a perfect face really can make people forget all their judgments.’
She arched an eyebrow and propped her chin up. “Hmm… I’ve got a bunch of surprises you don’t know about yet. Curious?”
“Yes,” Ryan replied without a second thought.
“If you want to know, then get to know me better. The more you learn, the more you’ll find out,” Whitney said, her smile growing more playful, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
She was like a sly, playful cat.
Ryan’s gaze deepened slightly, a hint of intensity flickering in his eyes.
A tender, lingering smile spread across his attractive features.
Under the dazzling wall lights, his eyes and face shimmered like a sky full of stars.
He thought, ‘So, what she really meant is that I still have the chance to keep discovering more about her.
‘There is still a future waiting for us.’
Ryan felt his heart take flight.
Meanwhile, Whitney, totally missing Ryan’s excitement, reached under the cushion and patted her stomach. “Is dinner ready yet? I’m starving.”
She thought, ‘I need a good meal first. Only then would I have the energy to mess around with Ryan!’

At the Anderson family’s place, Brandon stared
led, his cold brow furrowing slightly.
Successfully unlocked!
He thought, Wait, did I just…
Was that Whitney’s voice I heard?
Chapter 138 Treating Ryan
‘Is Mr. Russell with Whitney?
‘No way. How is that possible?
‘That is the president of the Medical Association. Even the Anderson Group can’t get on his radar.
What makes Whitney qualified to meet someone like Davis?
‘Whitney is driving me crazy. I must be imagining things now.
Brandon pinched the bridge of his nose, repeating that to himself over and over, trying to convince himself it was all in his head.
But at the same time, he couldn’t shake off a bad feeling
He thought, ‘Just now, besides Whitney’s voice, did I also hear Ryan’s voice?
‘What if Ryan really brings Whitney to meet Mr. Russell?
‘Is Mr. Russell ignoring the Anderson Group and me all because of Whitney?
‘Even if the Anderson Group’s reputation is tanking online, it shouldn’t mean we can’t get any favor from Mr. Russell, right?
‘If that really was Whitney’s voice I heard, then Whitney got ahead of me again.
‘Whitney really is trying to drive Mom to desperation.
‘Whitney.
‘Why does she have to be everywhere?’
His eyes flicked over the invitation lying on the table, his gaze growing deeper.
He thought, ‘Guess I’ll have to wait until Davis’s lecture the day after tomorrow, see the president of the Medical Association in person, and find out for myself whether that woman’s voice on Davis’s phone was really Whitney’s.
At eight o’clock that evening, Ryan was lying on the bed.
Whitney stood by the bed, shooting a glance at the wall lamp before looking down at him.
Davis stood on the other side, staring unblinkingly at Whitney, his eyes full of excitement.
With Ryan lying there, his features seemed gentler than usual.
His elegant eyes stayed wide open, locked onto Whitney.
His long, thick black lashes fluttered softly, throwing a delicate fan-shaped shadow across his face.
He looked peaceful and beautiful, like a sleeping beauty on the verge of drifting off.
“You can close your eyes and rest. Leave everything else to me. Don’t be afraid,” Whitney said, feeling a little uneasy with the way he was staring at her.
For some reason, Ryan’s gaze felt like it was searing into her, almost too intense to handle.
She figured he was nervous, worried she’d find something seriously wrong with him.
So she tried to reassure him. “Relax. If there’s a way to treat it, I’ll do everything I can to help you out.”
With that, Whitney turned and laid out her set of needles on the long table behind her.
Once she opened the case, each needle caught the light, throwing out sharp streaks of purple that danced across the room.
They sparkled like a handful of brilliant amethyst crystals, glowing with an almost magical shine.
Davis’s eyes were glued to the needles, his eyes going wide as he couldn’t help but make excited noises. “Mentor, are those the legendary Amethyst Needles?”
He practically shot over from the other side of the bed, half-crouching in front of the table, staring hungrily at each and every needle.
He wished he could etch every single needle into his mind.
Davis was holding his squat like a champ, totally steady.
Whitney shot him a look but didn’t bother stopping him from openly drooling over her Amethyst Needles.
She soaked up all of Davis’s praise for the Amethyst Needles without batting an eye.
These Amethyst Needles were custom-made for her by her mentor and seniors. They spent forever tracking down rare materials and personally forged them for Whitney.
They were one-of-a-kind, made exclusively for her.

She thought, ‘Seriously, how could they not be awesome?’
With a deft flick of her fingers, a few Amethyst Needles slipped effortlessly between her fingertips.
Several piercing sounds sliced through the air.
Whitney sprang into action without a moment’s hesitation.
The Amethyst Needles, each radiating a subtle purple glow, pierced swiftly and precisely into Ryan’s body.
Her movements were fluid and lightning-fast.
Davis eagerly tore his eyes away from the Amethyst Needles and fixed them on Whitney’s hands, hoping to catch some of her technique.
