Chapter 1401 Can Control the Poison

Chapter 140 I Can Control the Poison

After Whitney used her needle technique, his real pulse finally showed itself.

Then, she sealed his heart’s vital point, putting him in a fake death state.

The bug inside Ryan sensed his weakened pulse and thought it had finished its mission, so it went berserk, trying to consume its host’s life completely.

That’s how Davis caught it right away when he took Ryan’s pulse

“So, can we get the bug out?” Davis asked, looking a bit uneasy. Bug was way out of his comfort zone.

People always said that bug and medicine kind of went hand in hand.

But honestly, they’re worlds apart.

When it came to herbs or tough medical cases, Davis could always work some magic.

But dealing with bugs was not his thing.

Honestly, these days, bug were pretty much something people hear about in legends.

There were government agencies keeping a close eye on this stuff.

There was absolutely no way they’d let bug poison threaten ordinary folks’ lives.

He thought, ‘How could someone like Ryan, born in a rich family, possibly have a bug poison planted in him?

‘And all this time, nobody ever noticed?’

Whitney paused, her gaze sharpening as she spoke, “This bug has almost completely fused with Ryan. If we try to force it out, he’d die instantly.”

As she spoke, she withdrew the needle from his heart’s vital point.

“Then what do we do?” Davis’s brows knitted together.

He thought, ‘If we tried to pull the bug out, Ryan would be a goner.

‘But if we left it inside, he would still be doomed.’

Davis suddenly thought aloud and said, “Maybe there’s someone in the Medical Association who specializes in bugs, or should we try to find a bug master?”

“I’m afraid it’s useless,” Whitney replied, her gaze lingering on Ryan’s pale, lifeless face.

Shadows danced across Ryan’s face as he lay there with his eyes shut, looking like he was already gone.

He had that tragic, sickly beauty that makes people ache for him.

Whitney said, “Whoever managed to plant this bug in Ryan must be someone powerful. And this isn’t any ordinary bug. It’s been hidden in his body for over twenty years without anyone noticing.

“This is way out of any regular bug master’s league.”

She thought, ‘If we tried anything reckless, we would agitate the bug and trigger a rampage.

*And that would alert whoever’s controlling the bug that we’re onto them.

‘The enemy remains hidden in the dark.

‘They may target Ryan again.

‘So, if we want a real cure, Ryan needs to figure out who put the bug in him.’

Whitney retrieved all the needles. “I can suppress the bug in Ryan’s body for now, and stop it from releasing the poison that’ s been eating away at his life.

“But I’m not sure how long I can keep it suppressed. If the bug wakes up, it might retaliate and leave him weaker than before.

“Make sure you explain it to him clearly. If he chooses suppression, he needs to track down whoever is behind this as soon as possible.”

Davis nodded.

Whitney packed up her Amethyst Needle and handed Davis a prescription. “Go brew this medicine for him. When he wakes up, make sure he understands everything.

“I’ll be staying here with him to rest. Once he’s made up his mind, let me know his answer tomorrow.”

Chapter 1401Can Control the Poison

As she spoke, she let out a yawn, her eyes shimmering with a touch of drowsiness.

It’s been a long time since Whitney last used her Amethyst Needle

Even though she’d barely used it now, she still felt drained.

With Davis there to look after Ryan, Whitney could finally rest easy and get some sleep in the guest room.

That was exactly why she’d called Davis over.

Having someone to help out really took a load off her shoulders.

As president of the Medical Association, Davis could grab whatever herbs he needed, no questions asked.

She didn’t have to babysit

She could head back and catch some well-deserved sleep.

Whitney waved her hand and strolled out, not bothering to look back.

When she got to the second floor, it was as if Ryan crossed her mind. She leaned against the railing, lazily looking down at him.

“Oh, and after he takes the medicine, he might sweat a lot. Don’t forget to help him clean up,” Whitney called out. Davis blinked in disbelief.

He thought, ‘Man, we’re both guys. Isn’t this a bit much?’

Whitney propped her chin on her hand, tilting her head lazily. “Or should I do it?”

Davis sputtered, “No way! That’s worse.”

He thought, ‘Whitney is a woman, after all.

‘There’s no way I’m letting that brat Ryan take advantage of her!’

Davis put on a heroic face, as if he were marching off to battle. “Alright, I’ll take care of it. Mentor, you go rest easy. Leave everything here to me.”

Whitney rolled her eyes at Davis’s childish act and lazily turned back to the guest room, not bothering to respond.

******

Night had fallen.

The house was wrapped in silence, the only light coming from a single warm lamp in the hall, carving out a small world of brightness in the darkness.

Ryan slowly opened his eyes.

His noble eyes seemed to shine brighter under the warm lamp, rich and mesmerizing.

After a few moments of silence, his thoughts began to clear and return to him.

He remembered that Whitney was treating him.

When the needles sank into his body, he felt a cold so sharp it seemed to cut right through his bones.

The very next second, his mind turned to ice, and everything went pitch black.

And now, here he was.

He tilted his head a bit, scanning his surroundings.

He was still lying in his own bed.

His upper body was still bare.

He was only covered by a thin blanket.

At some point, someone had slipped a soft white towel under him.

The towel was covered in big, dirty stains.

As he sat up, his whole body felt sticky and gross.

By the bed, there was a basin with his towel loosely hanging over the rim.

The water in the basin was pitch-black and murky, like the scent.

on the towel, and it gave off a strong, pungent herbal

He moved a bit, feeling completely refreshed, way better than he had all day.

Clearly, those dirty marks on the towel were the result of his body purging all that gunk

Chapter 140 Can Control the Poison

He figured that someone must have wiped him down while he was out.

Ryan’s brows and eyes drooped a little as a hazy memory suddenly played out in his mind.

He thought, ‘In that blurry moment, Whitney’s cool, fresh scent wrapped around me, calming the ache and pain in my body. Soft hands swept gently across my skin

‘Little by little, they wiped away all the discomfort, leaving me feeling clean and

‘Then, those soft hands lingered on my abs, fingers gently rubbing and tracing, almost as if savoring the moment.

‘The sensation is so vivid, it feels completely real.’

It was so real that he genuinely thought Whitney had actually been there, personally wiping away all the grime from his body.

But when Ryan turned his head, he saw Davis sprawled out on the couch, wrapped in a blanket and sleeping soundly.

There was an empty bowl of medicine sitting next to him.

He thought, ‘So it really is a dream.

‘Looks like Davis is the one who took care of me after all.’

Even though someone had wiped him down, after lying on that towel for so long, he still felt sticky all over.

Ryan got up and headed to the bathroom.

Twenty minutes later, Ryan stepped out of the bedroom, wrapped in a bathrobe.

Outside, it was pitch black.

The clock’s hands pointed to 2 AM.

His gaze landed on the guest room where Whitney was staying.

He figured Whitney had probably gone back to her own villa by now.

But to his surprise, the light in her room was still on.
