Chapter 177 New Owner for Andersun Group

Chapter 177 New Owner for Anderson Group

All the board members turned to look at Whitney. None of them could understand why Whitney suddenly showed up at the Anderson Group’s office and crashed their board meeting.

Brandon felt a sense of dread. “What are you doing here?”

Whitney led her people straight to Edgar’s seat. She reached out and gently placed her hand on Edgar’s shoulder, a faint smile playing on her lips. “If I hadn’t shown up, how else could I watch you all dreaming your lives away?

“If I didn’t come, how would I catch you using me to make empty promises to the other board members?”

Edgar’s face darkened when he caught the sarcasm in Whitney’s voice. He had been using Whitney and Ryan’s names to calm the board members, only to be called out by her in front of everyone. It was undeniably awkward.

But Edgar didn’t think he’d done anything wrong. Whitney was his own flesh and blood. Since Whitney was so close to Ryan, of course, she should put the family first, even if it meant sacrificing herself.

Edgar thought Whitney should feel lucky that Ryan liked her. It was a privilege. Otherwise, Edgar wouldn’t have acknowledged her as his daughter at all.

“Whitney, don’t do anything crazy. Dad just got out of the hospital,” Brandon said, quickly reaching for her arm. He shot her a warning look, his brows knit together, clearly hoping she wouldn’t act out right now.

But before Brandon could touch her, Whitney dodged him so smoothly it was barely noticeable. She let out a soft laugh, looking totally unconcerned. “So what?”

Brandon swallowed hard, his face darkening. “So don’t piss Dad off.”

Whitney couldn’t help but laugh again, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Why should I care if he’s mad?”

Edgar was getting annoyed. Honestly, he and Whitney never really bonded as father and daughter. He only brought Whitney back because Paula was always crying and feeling guilty, and he got tired of it.

Besides, having another daughter meant one more shot at a marriage alliance in the future. Why not? The Anderson family could easily afford it anyway.

After Whitney came back, Edgar never really cared about her. When Emily played her little tricks, he saw right through them, but he couldn’t be bothered to say a word in Whitney’s defense.

To him, Emily was the heiress he’d spent years grooming, pouring in all that time and effort. Of course, he wanted to squeeze every last drop of value out of her. He never bothered with the petty drama between the girls.

After the show ended, Edgar never really had a confrontation with Whitney. So this was the first time he’d ever heard Whitney talk to him with such a cold, distant tone.

In Edgar’s memory, Whitney was always that shy, unsophisticated girl from some remote town. She’d get so nervous talking to him, practically shaking, never able to stand up for herself in front of anyone.

Sometimes, when their eyes met, he’d see her gazing at him, her expression full of longing and hope. He wondered, ‘When did things start to change? When did Whitney’s eyes lose all warmth when she looked at me?’

Whitney couldn’t care less about what was going on in Edgar and Brandon’s heads. She clapped her hands, and one of the men behind her, a gentleman with gold-rimmed glasses and an air of sophistication, opened his briefcase and took out a document.

Edgar’s gaze fixed on the document. His eyes widened in disbelief. Brandon’s expression shifted, and he looked up sharply at Whitney.

Whitney gave a faint smile, resting her hands on Edgar’s chair and lowering her gaze slightly. “Sorry, Mr. Edgar Anderson, but from now on, you’re stepping down.”

The document proved that Whitney was now the largest shareholder in the Anderson Group. In other words, Whitney was calling all the shots now. She had absolute authority in the Anderson Group. Edgar had no choice but to step aside now. The document was passed around for every board member to see. They were all left speechless, completely stunned. None of them could believe Whitney had managed to quietly take control of so many shares in the Anderson Group before anyone realized what was happening.

Anyone could see it. Whitney didn’t grab the bigr on, straight up.

“Whitney, are you out of your mind?” Brandon shot to his feet, flinging the document across the room. “The Anderson

Do you really have to provoke Dad at a time like this?”

Chapter 177 New Owner for Anderson Group

Edgar’s face was contorted with rage, his sharp eyes practically shooting daggers at Whitney.

He wasn’t looking at her like a father looks at his daughter. He looked at her like she was his mortal enemy, like he was ready to wring her neck on the spot.

Whitney flashed a confident smile. “This is business. How could you call it provocation? If you’re too old for the battlefield, Mr. Edgar Anderson, then step aside and let the young blood take the lead. Don’t stand in our way.”

She patted Edgar’s shoulder lightly. “Mr. Edgar Anderson, it’s not good to keep hogging a spot that was never yours.” Edgar’s face twitched, and his eyes turned colder. “Whitney, you’re an Anderson!”

“No, I’m a Harrington,” Whitney said with a bright smile, waving for her bodyguards to carry Edgar out. “Mr. Edgar Anderson, did you forget? My ID has always said Whitney Harrington.”

Edgar’s lips quivered.

Brandon said coldly, his anger barely contained, “Is this your idea of revenge? Are you really going to do this to us?”

Edgar’s chair was unceremoniously pushed out of the way. The bodyguards hauled in a brand new chair and set it right at the head of the table.

Whitney settled into the seat with an air of confidence, leaning back like she owned the place. “Ever since you kept picking Emily, you should’ve been ready to deal with the fallout.”
