Their Punching Bag Became The Storm novel Chapter 19

Chapter 19 Big Fight

Chase felt awful for his thought. He ignored the pain in his hand and gently reassured Emily in his arms. Don’t worry. I’m here. I won’t let anything happen to you.

[Seriously, Chase? I won’t let anything happen to you? Take a look at the state you two are in right now.]

Honestly, they were in really bad shape right now.

They thought putting on the raincoats from the production team would solve everything. But the raincoats were so oversized that moving was difficult.

On this miserable island, even a light breeze shook leftover rain from the trees. They didn’t dare take off their raincoats, so they kept trudging along at a crawl.

Every now and then, something would snag or scratch them. By the end of it, their raincoats were shredded, and they were soaked to the bone.

But that wasn’t even tho

worst part. Finally, Emily’s raincoat got snagged, and she fell facefirst into the mud. The two of them were a real sight, completely miserable and covered in mud.

The regular viewers had been feeling bad for Chase and Emily, but once Ryan’s fans flooded the stream, everyone started making fun of them.

The viewers were completely fed up. Watching them was a total headache.

[I’m watching both Emily’s and Ryan’s streams at the same time. The comparison is so funny.]

[Chase looks so miserable. I can’t help but crack up.]

[Even when Emily is sniffling and acting cute, she never forgets to keep up her tough girl persona.]

r

[One minute she’s whining to Chase about what to do, and the next she’s clenching her fist and saying, No matter how hard it gets, we’ll get through this together.]

[She keeps saying she’s tough, not afraid to get dirty, and willing to do anything for the show. But she frowned at everything. The look on her face screams how much she hates walking on this rough path.]

[She complains with every step. First it’s, Oh, I’m stuck in the mud. Then, God, it’s so dark. This is freaking me out.]

[She says, I can handle anything!out loud, but inside she’s thinking, This is miserable and exhausting. Can someone please spoil me already?]

[I’ve hopped through all five streams, and honestly, Chase and Emily’s is the most ridiculous one.]

Chapter 19 Big Fight

A bunch of Ryan’s fans were about to close the stream and head back to Ryan and Whitney’s when a comment popped up in the chat.

]

[Hey guys, Emily couldn’t keep up her tough girl act and is actually arguing with Chase.

Ryan’s fans immediately stopped in their tracks.

[Oh man. So Emily started whining and pouting about her feet hurting, and Chase had no choice but to carry her on his back. But come on, Chase is injured too. No surprise there. They both ended up faceplanting again.]

[This time, Emily’s head went straight into the mud and totally ruined her makeup. There’s no way she could keep pretending after that. Of course she started fussing and blaming Chase.]

With Emily keeping blaming him, Chase was starting to lose his cool.

If it weren’t for Emily,he thought bitterly, would I have gotten my hand broken by Ryan?

Or been slapped by my own sister? And that’s not even the worst part.

Do you think I’m holding you back? That teaming up with Ryan would’ve been the smarter move?Chase snapped at her.

The truth was, Chase was still pissed that Emily had invited Ryan without even considering how he felt.

She knew well that he only joined this show to look after her. Of course he would always team up with her, no matter what.

But then she went and invited Ryan anyway. Leaving Chase hanging like that was basically slapping him in the face.

Emily was still wiping mud off her face and fuming, but the moment she heard Chase’s angry tone, she stopped complaining. She was genuinely afraid Chase might actually lose his temper with her.

r

Right now, everything Emily had come from the Anderson family’s special treatment of

her.

She needed to keep every single one of them wrapped around her finger. There was no way she was letting Whitney get even the smallest chance to come back.

Even though she was boiling inside, Emily didn’t dare throw a tantrum. Instead, she softened her voice and tried to coax Chase.

Emily could usually wrap every Anderson around her finger. But right now, things seemed different.

No matter how sweetly Emily tried to coax Chase, the vibe between them was still off. [Those two are definitely coming in last tonight.]

Chapter 19 Big Fight

[Wasn’t Emily acting all tough yesterday, crushing every challenge like it was no big deal? What happened? Now she’s being a total wimp.]

[What’s so great about that? You mean that easy food exchange task? Or the shelter challenge? The only reason she won either one was by throwing Whitney under the bus. Now that Whitney isn’t here, she’s showing who she really is.]

While the chat was busy roasting Emily and Chase, Whitney and Ryan had already swept through the entire forest and taken every last bit of food.

They stared at the pit filled with supplies in silence. In there, there had to be at least a hundred bags.

Finally, Ryan broke the silence. We’ve definitely got enough food to last us five days, but how are we supposed to haul all this back?

One option was to bury it here and come back whenever they needed something. The problem was that this spot was still a long hike from their shelter. Going back and forth every day would be a real pain.

Whitney thought for a moment and said, Didn’t the production team say we could swap anything useful we find on the island for something else of equal value?

Ryan’s eyes lit up. We’ve got a mountain of food here. Why not use it to make a deal

with them?

Whitney nodded. Stay here. I’ll go talk to them.

Ryan didn’t want her to go alone. But if he left and someone else found this stash, everything she had worked for tonight would go to waste. So he agreed, Be careful. I’ll wait for you.

His words caught Whitney off guard and made her heart skip a beat. She couldn’t even remember the last time anyone had said that to her.

Ever since she returned to the Anderson family, it was like no one ever waited for her. They never looked forward to seeing her come back.

She pressed her lips together and gave a soft Mm.Then she turned and disappeared into the trees, almost running away.

Ryan stood by the pit with one hand in his pocket, watching Whitney’s silhouette fade into the woods. The soft glow from the flashlight fell across his striking face and softened his features with an unexpected gentleness.

He thought to himself. It feels like coming here was the right call. At first, getting close to Whitney was instinct. But now I have to say she’s really something else.
