Chapter 30 Begging Whitney for Help
“Something happened?” Nora’s eyes widened. “Is it one of the staff? How did this happen? Let’s go check it out.”
She grabbed Whitney’s hand and started jogging over. Or rather, Nora did the running. Whitney strolled behind her, her long legs moving at an easy pace, and she wore an air of total indifference.
Whitney had a pretty good idea who was in trouble. Any regular staff member would not cause this much of a stir.
As they got closer, they could hear a crowd buzzing about what had happened.
Word was, someone got poisoned. The person was throwing up like crazy and running to the bathroom nonstop. The on–site doctor was already helping.
“Poisoned?” Nora gasped, grabbing Whitney’s arm. “When I signed up for this show, my agent warned me a million times. Don’t eat anything random on the wild island. There are tons of toxic things out there.”
If Whitney had not been the one to catch and cook that snake herself yesterday, Nora honestly would not have trusted it enough to take a bite.
So even though the show crew wanted the survival experience to feel as real as possible, they still would not let the guests go out and find their own food.
Instead, they spent a fortune air dropping supplies and making the guests earn them through challenges. At least that way, everyone stayed safe.
But no matter how careful the crew was, there was always someone who had to do something reckless. In the end, there was still trouble.
Nora tugged Whitney along as they squeezed through the crowd. Whitney’s eyes went straight to Chase and Emily on the stretchers. ‘Figures it’s them, Whitney thought.

Both of them were pale as ghosts, their brows tightly furrowed and faces scrunched up in misery. Beside them, a basket stuffed with their vomit gave off a stench strong enough to make anyone gag.
Darian stood off to the side, running his fingers through his thinning hair in frustration. “The livestream is about to start, and you two go and get yourselves into this mess? How are we supposed to go live now?”
‘These two are such a headache, he thought. ‘If I had known they would be this much trouble, I would have thought twice about letting them on the show..
I should not have been tempted by Chase’s newfound popularity, and I definitely

should not have caved to the Anderson family’s pressure to let Chase and Emily join.
Regret gnawed at him. He tugged at his little ponytail, already racking his brain for how to explain to the viewers once the livestream started that Chase and Emily had gotten poisoned.
If the Andersons caught wind of this, they would definitely freak out. With how much they pampered their little princess, they would probably have a private jet booked and rush straight to the island by this afternoon.
‘What a pain, Darian grumbled to himself. The more he thought about it, the more annoyed he got.
“Darian, I’m okay,” Emily said weakly, managing a determined smile for him. She forced herself upright on the stretcher. “Chase and I won’t hold up today’s shoot.”
Darian was speechless. ‘The livestream has not even started yet. No need to start the drama now, he thought. ‘Who cares if she is okay?
‘Talk is cheap. If she can jump up and act normal, then maybe I will believe her. Come on, we are all seasoned pros here. Who is buying this performance?‘
Suddenly, Chase, sprawled out on the other stretcher, let out a weak groan. In his dazed state, he thought he saw Whitney’s figure flicker by. He called, “Whitney? Whitney.”
He struggled to open his eyes, scanning the crowd desperately like he was searching for something or someone. Then he caught sight of that dazzling Whitney, standing out from everyone else.
A spark of hope flashed in his eyes. His lips were pale, and his voice was hoarse as he called out, “Whitney, are not you the queen of home remedies? Please, go make me something. I’m seriously about to die here.”
He stretched his hand toward Whitney, wanting to grab her, but he was so weak that his arm dropped limply back down.
All that effort to move only made his stomach churn harder. He could not take it anymore. He let out a loud gag, leaned over the stretcher, and started vomiting like
crazy.
The staff nearby grimaced in disgust and stepped back, looking totally grossed out.
After he finally finished puking, the staff helped him lie back down. He spotted Whitney standing in the crowd, not moving an inch.
His face contorted with pain and desperation. “Whitney, didn’t you hear me? Hurry up. I‘ m suffering here. It hurts so bad.”
He was desperate for Whitney’s help to ease his suffering and make this agony go
away.
Chapter 30 Begging Whitney for Help
He knew Whitney had grown up in the wild, moving between different foster families, and had picked up all kinds of folk remedies that most people had never heard of. When she first came back to the Andersons, she was always brewing tonics for them, saying each one was tailored to their body.
But to them, those remedies looked like something poor people threw together when they could not afford real medicine. No one with money would ever touch that stuff. There was no science behind it, no real legitimacy.
They even doubted whether she was trying to help them or poison them.
Every time Whitney brought her remedies, they pushed them aside or let them go cold. Then they had the servants toss them out.
But then one time, Brandon pulled several all–nighters for the company. His health kept getting worse until he finally collapsed from exhaustion and became seriously ill.
He had a stubborn high fever and a splitting headache. The situation was so bad that even the doctors could not help him.
When he could no longer stand the pain, he grabbed the remedy Whitney had brought over without thinking. Within half an hour, all his symptoms disappeared.
After that, whenever anyone in the Anderson family felt under the weather, they asked Whitney to brew another batch of her remedy,
The truth was; her remedies worked like magic. Those old chronic issues never troubled them again.
Chase felt like his insides were being wrung out, twisted and pulled without mercy. His stomach kept flipping, and he felt absolutely awful. The pain in his belly was so intense he could barely stand it.
He forgot all about the argument he had had with Whitney the day before. Like back at the Anderson residence, he turned to her for help without even thinking, expecting her to take care of him.
Besides, he didn’t believe Whitney could be so hard–hearted. There was no way she would watch him suffer without lifting a finger.
So he cried out even more pitifully, his voice full of misery, hoping to tug at Whitney’s heartstrings and make her feel sorry for him.
Emily stood off to the side, biting her lip so hard she almost drew blood. A trace of poisonous resentment rose in her eyes.
She thought bitterly, ‘Chase always insists he never sees Whitney as family and that there is no sibling bond between them. But deep down, Whitney still holds a place in his heart. He doesn’t even know it yet, but he’s already under Whitney’s influence.’
Even though she was fuming, Emily still wished Whitney would obediently make that

remedy for Chase like always. If Chase got his share, Emily believed she would definitely get hers too. She couldn’t stand this pain any longer.
Emily carefully stole a glance at Whitney, wanting to see how she was reacting to Chase.
Whitney stood there completely unmoved by Chase’s miserable wailing and didn’t budge an inch. When she looked their way, her eyes were cold and empty, without a trace of emotion.
Emily felt like she had punched a pillow. Her anger fizzled out and left her feeling helpless and frustrated. Inwardly, she cursed, “Whitney, you idiot!”
