Chapter 89 Let’s team up
Chapter 89 Let’s team up
Whitney’s eyes were completely emotionless.
But the woman was still startled.
Her hand froze in midair, not daring to move an inch.
A few seconds later, she realized what had happened. Her face flushed bright red, and she pulled her hand back in frustration.
But her gaze never left Whitney.
“Whitney, I know about your relationship with the Anderson family,” the woman said, emphasizing each word as she studied Whitney’s expression.
But Whitney’s face stayed as indifferent and lazy as ever, as if she couldn’t care less about what she was saying.
It felt like punching a pillow, and the woman was left feeling utterly powerless.
She thought, ‘I come to Whitney because I was sure Whitney would want to expose the secret, let everyone know the truth, and finally reclaim her identity as the real heiress.
‘So obviously, after hearing this, Whitney would want to team up with me, right?
‘But why isn’t Whitney showing any reaction at all?‘
She felt frustrated. As Whitney flicked the water off her hands and was about to walk away, she stepped in front of her, blocking her path. “Whitney, we need to talk!”
Her tone sharpened on those last words.
Whitney lifted her eyelids with a lazy, indifferent look. “Kayla, I really don’t think there’s anything for us to discuss.” Kayla bit her lip. “Don’t you want to reveal who you really are and make the person who took your place face the consequences?”
Whitney shrugged. “Not interested.”
Kayla’s eyes went wide. “No way! I don’t buy it.”
She wondered, ‘Seriously, how could Whitney not want this?
‘I mean, we’re talking about the Anderson family.
‘They’re one of the most elite families in all of Roynfort!
If Whitney is the rightful heiress, why should she let Emily, that fake heiress, keep pushing her around?
Emily always used her Anderson heiress status to lord it over Whitney, showing off every chance she got.
‘Doesn’t Whitney want to unmask Emily and show everyone her true colors?
‘Doesn’t she want to make Emily pay and take back everything that rightfully belongs to her?”
Kayla couldn’t believe Whitney would be so selfless.
Whitney rolled her eyes. She was gorgeous when she did that. She said, “Believe whatever you want.”
“Whitney, I have proof. I caught it on video.” Kayla burst out, surprised that she was the one to lose her composure first.
She gritted her teeth, pulled out the phone from the show, and played a video, holding it up for Whitney to see.
She glanced outside the bathroom to make sure no one was around, then barely turned on the sound. Since it was secretly recorded, with the volume so low, it was impossible to hear what they were saying.
But Whitney, with her sharp hearing, could still catch enough to figure out what Emily and Chase were talking about. As for the way Emily and Chase were acting all lovey–dovey, like a couple, Whitney didn’t really care.
After all, that kind of thing happened all the time in the Anderson family, as long as Edgar and Paula weren’t watching. And honestly, it used to get way more intense than this.
Sometimes, it wasn’t Chase. There’d be three or four of her brothers all crowding around her, hugging, kissing her cheeks and forehead.
It was like a queen bee running her own harem, with all the guys fawning over her.
That was way wilder than what’s going on now.
But when the video finally ended, Whitney’s expression changed a bit.

She arched her brow, her eyes narrowing in a seductive way.
In the video, Chase’s finger gently touched Emily’s lips.
As their eyes locked, Whitney caught a trace
of something secret, something unspeakable, flickering in Chase’s gaze. She thought, ‘Now, that is an interesting twist.
‘Looks like the Anderson family is in for quite a show.
‘Once Chase realizes those feelings he has for Emily, feelings that he can’t say out loud, will he really be able to keep treating her like his sister?
‘Can he still act as if nothing were changed, as if she were family?
‘Honestly, that’s not likely.
‘Especially since Emily isn’t his real sister.
‘That makes it easier for Chase to let those feelings grow and take over.”
The video ended.
Kayla snatched her phone back. “Well? Once this goes public, you can take back your spot as the Anderson heiress, expose Emily as a fraud, and kick her out of the family for good!”
Whitney let out a soft laugh. “So you’re afraid the Andersons will come after you if you leak this, right? That’s why you want me to take the fall while you sit back and collect the benefits?”
Kayla’s face froze for a second, clearly rattled that Whitney had nailed her motives. She tilted her chin defiantly. “You’re the real Anderson heiress.
“If you release the video, the Andersons won’t mess with you. We both win. So why not?”
Kayla paused, tapping the screen to freeze the shot where Chase and Emily locked eyes in a moment that was practically dripping with romance.
She said, “And up until now, no matter how close Chase and Emily get on camera, they can chalk it up to being close siblings.
“But once everyone finds out Emily’s a fake heiress, and they aren’t related, and they both know it. Every little thing they do together will get picked apart and blown out of proportion by anyone looking for gossip.”
Kayla had already figured out exactly how to use this video to get what she wanted.
Originally, she’d wanted to use the video to threaten Emily straight up.
But after yesterday morning, when Whitney threatened Emily with something on her phone and said those words, Kayla took them to heart.
This phone belonged to the production team.
She had to return it to the crew if she wanted her own phone back.
That was the crew’s way of making sure no one could secretly record anything during filming and transfer it to their personal phone, which might stir up trouble later.
And the Anderson family was one of the investors in this season.
For the Andersons, getting her phone back would be a breeze.
So the video she recorded wouldn’t do her any good at all.
That’s why she sought out Whitney.
If Whitney could use something on her phone to threaten Emily, it meant she had a way to get the evidence off the island.
After mulling it over for a whole day, Kayla finally decided to come to Whitney and ask her to team up.
If using the video to threaten Emily and get something out of her wasn’t going to work, Kayla figured she might as well find another way to use it.
She thought, ‘So why not put this video to good use?‘
She needed to sell the video to Whitney for a hefty price and let Whitney do all the heavy lifting.
That way, if Whitney managed to reclaim her spot as the Anderson heiress, Kayla would be the hero of the story. Getting favors from Whitney would be a breeze.
And if Whitney didn’t pull it off, since she’d be the one dropping the bomb, Kayla could keep her hands clean and stay out of it.
Chapter 89 Let’s team up
Plus, she’d still walk away with a huge sum of money.
And she’d get to watch Emily hit rock bottom, with everyone tearing her apart for being a fake heiress.
All this time, Kayla had been sticking close to Emily, sucking up to her like crazy.
But Emily always acted as if she were on top of the world, never seeing Kayla as a real person.
She certainly had some resentment simmering inside.
