This Time, I’ll Be the Villain’s Favorite Daughter

Chapter 280 Pick Your Team

Maya fell silent for a couple of seconds.

:

The only kind of snowman she knew how to build was an ugly one.

And besides, she preferred to do it herself.

I’ll do it on my own.

Maya went on patting away with the shovel.

Edric didn’t push it. He simply drew his hand back, tucked it into his pocket, and crouched quietly beside her, watching.

At 7 p.m., when Toby arrived, the very first thing he saw was an enormous, unbelievably ugly snowman assaulting his eyes.

He retreated two steps, closed his eyes, and gave himself a moment to recover.

Only then did he walk into the yard.

George had shown up a little earlier. He’d actually wanted to help build the snowman too, but after getting turned down by his little brother and sister both at once, he’d taken to crouching on the ground, sulking out of sheer boredom.

Bored out of his mind, he caught sight of someone arriving.

The young man casually grabbed a handful of snow, packed it into a ball, and lobbed it over with perfect accuracy.

Toby tilted his head and dodged, the snowball grazing past his cheekbone and bursting into a puff of white powder.

What is wrong with you?Toby’s face went cold.

Seeing that his first shot had missed, George reached over and patted Alfred, then without the slightest hesitation stuffed a clump of snow down the back of the boy’s shirt.

The cold against his skin made Alfred lower his head and shake the freezing clump out from under his clothes.

Meltwater trickled down his neck, the chill sliding all the way down his spine.

Without a flicker of expression, the boy bent over, scooped up a handful of snow within reach, packed it tight, and pressed it squarely onto George’s face.

Having fun, George?

Maya looked up and watched the warm little exchange between her two brothers.

Are you guys having a snowball fight?

George wiped a hand across his face and said with a grin, Yep. Want to play?

Maya, you can be on my team. I’m super good at this.

Maya said, No thanks.

Teaming up with George was a quick way to get ganged up on by everyone.

Her gaze swept over to Toby, who’d just arrived.

Toby gave a smile that wasn’t quite a smile. Want to be on my team?

I do not want you!Maya didn’t hesitate for a second.

No way was she picking Toby.

Toby instantly fixed her with a cold glare.

But even glaring, those pretty eyes of his didn’t carry much menace.

He’d had no idea this whole time that Maya had actually gone off to some godforsaken island to play killorbekilled with Alfred.

If he’d known sooner, he’d have hauled her right out of there.

These oldfashioned family rules were too strict and should have been done

Maya turned around, spotted Wendy opening the door, and immediately launched herself over, wrapping both arms around her mother’s waist and hanging off her like a koala.

Mom, Mom!

She buried her face in Wendy’s shirt. Let’s be a team, you and me, and play in the snowball fight together!

Wendy caught the child steadily as she threw herself over, then lowered her head to look at the fuzzy little head in her arms. Hm? Sweetheart, you want to be on my team?

She was pleasantly surprised.

Of course that’s fine!

Wendy gave her cheek a pinch.

Maya’s face squished out of shape, her lips puckering up like a blowfish.

Looking at her like that, Wendy couldn’t resist giving her another pinch.

Standing a short distance away, Toby bent down, touched the freezing snow, gripped a handful in his palm, and walked over without a trace of expression. Maya.

Maya turned to look at him. Toby?

Toby leaned down, very close to her.

Maya could even catch the faint scent of fir on his clothes.

The young man’s features were soft, the corners of his lips curving up slightly, bringing a sudden warmth to the cold around him.

And then he reached out, the halfmelted clump of snow still clenched in his hand, and without the slightest hesitation, he pressed his palm flat against Maya’s face.

The icy touch hit her warm skin all at once, and Maya shivered instantly, then shrieked.

Toby!

That’s what you get for not picking me.Toby gave a cold laugh, drew his hand back, and stepped away.

Could you be any more childish?she snapped, furious.

I’m not being childish.

Maya was speechless.

She decided to stop wasting her breath on him.

She bent down, grabbed a handful of snow, packed it into a ball, and hurled it at him.
